I mean geez, this took me literally 2 minutes to draw.
It probably comes with the new Jack White screaming weasel guitar sound pre-installed.
If you already have a shop and already have a half sheet of plywood from another project, a bottle of Barges that isn't dried up and can cadge an end of a roll of rat-fur somewhere, yeah, $20 is a joke. But for the guy who takes his instrument to his "guitar guy" to put a toothpick and elmers in a loose strap peg hole, it's a bargain. By time he came up with materials at Home Depot, full sheet of decent, not great 1/2 or 5/8 ply, a pint can of contact cement, paint and 2 linear feet of rat-fur IO carpet. He's going to be over $20 cash outlay already. Now value his time at a conservative $9.00 an hour and he's at close to $60 dollars if he doesn't have to search too long to find that funny wrench that let's him change the blade on his old skilsaw and can make reasonably close to 90 degree cuts without messing up a couple of times first. For HIM, $20 and a little shipping is a bargain and a nice alternative to the non-powered pedal boards that start at $50 at places like sweetwater. If you went in as a stranger to a woodworking shop and asked him to make you the same thing as the rondo board, at the same level of (non) quality, It'll be A LOT more than $20 something. In that light I think the rondo board does have a market and like most rondo stuff is reasonably good for what it costs.
NOS Soviet PlywoodThey just need to add "1970's Vintage Reissue - Road Worn" to the product title or description.
essentially true or not, half the 'sell' in stuff like this is presentation, to which there is just massive fail on all fronts. it's poor business practice, imo, to present this article in this manner, that is at the heart of my reason for posting this. At LEAST pick a flattering angle that doesn't make it look like the equivalent to the 'last kid picked for kickball covered in his own sick '.
I really didn't mean to be unkind here, it's just laughable...
from the shoddy paint to the peeling overlay at the corners, it just screams "I do not belong for sale on a professional business' webstore', and I am also, somehow, very sad"...there's no 'SX' branding on this so I kind of ignore the cheap shots across their bow by some here just jockeying for cheap shots at that brand. I have an SX and I love it.
Rondo, if you're reading this, you can have my doodle for free, gratis...![]()
