Yes. Not sure about the "controlled" sound, but yes. It's a preamp and can be used for recording in front of what ever interface you are using. If you use the XLR out, you have access to the 2.5 band EQ to shape your sound before it hits the interface. If you use the 1/4 out, you have control over the gain and EQ to shape your sound before it hits the recording interface.
Yes to the first one. The XLR out is a fixed volume, so the sound guy would get your signal with whatever EQ you have going on the Noble.
Yes to the second one -- IF you dial the knobs on the Noble. Using the 1/4" to go to your amp the volume on the Noble comes into play.
You can get a great basic tone out of the Noble, send that to FOH, and then make any further tweaks for the stage sound (or your cab) with your TH amp.
Note that with the EQ all the way down, you are sending a flat signal out of the Noble. At this point, it is like a super clean tube DI that will just "warm up" your sound.
The way to do this would be to run: Bass -> (pedals if you have them) -> Noble -> FX Return of the amp -> Cab.
If you do this, then you bypass the preamp of the TH and are just using the power amp section - so the Noble becomes your "amp" and your sound would be 100% Noble.
The idea here is that you have your bass, pedals, and preamp, and you can plug into any PA system, house bass amp (using the FX Return), or what ever and have "your sound."
