Noble Amps Preamp

I just placed my name on the wait list. I’m hoping this will give me the subtle tube sound I’ve been looking for.

I’m going to be excited in 7 months.
The Noble is probably the best piece of gear I own. You won’t be disappointed

+1 to what Ivan said. The Noble is probably the single best investment in my gear that I've made. For me, it was worth every cent. If what you're looking for is that tube warmth and thickness, without the OD, this is it!

This board just makes me very happy. Like Ivan said, I predict you will be very happy...;):D

Yes, I don’t use overdrive a ton. And I have a Nordstrand starlifter preamp, but the vintage preset is a little too much for me at times. I wanted more subtle warmth like a modern stereo tube amp. I’m hoping this sits between the two presets on the starlifter.

@IvanBassist
I just watched this video again,

Is the lofi sounding backing track that you used at the end something I can track down for practicing at home (either free or for purchase)?

I’ll look for the file in my hard drive and i’ll send you a download link :)

Why? It’s meant for rack install.

I understand this. And I've gigged racks, and it appears the Noble will have a shallow footprint inside a standard rack, which means you're going to have to reach deep inside from behind to attach and detach the cable jacks. That's extra friction and a pain in low-light scenarios. Better to have the jacks in front for speedy operations.

With gear that some will use live and some in the studio in open racks it you’re not going to maximize convenience for both camps. Studio people tend to like a clean array of front panel controls without inputs to reach around or bump so there’s a strong bias towards rear inputs. Live performance people need to patch and troubleshoot quickly and are rarely close enough to bump inputs.

Since the original Noble works well live for most players it kinda makes sense for him to have done a studio oriented version. People do still use racks for live rigs but it’s a distinct minority and not, it appears, who Jack was thinking of primarily.

My Noble is due in about a fortnight, so it's time to prepare!
I don't want to run two separate power cables from my board and the Noble is not able to power all my pedals, so I was thinking about a split cable.
I have a Warwick Rockboard that has a pass through for the power cable, so basically I'd need a Y cable with an IEC C14 plug on one end and two IEC C13 on the other ends. One of them should be 90°, for the noble.
Does such a thing exist? How did the proud owners of Noble Preamps solve this?

I used this adapter to send it straight down and then just used a short IEC to run to the RockBoard power supply.

IEC C13-C14 Power Adapter

On my RockBoard.

After re-reading your post, I realize I misinterpreted your question. I don’t know about the Y IEC but in addition to the adapter, I also added a small 3 outlet strip under my board to address it.
