Noble Amps Preamp

My Noble is due in about a fortnight, so it's time to prepare!
I don't want to run two separate power cables from my board and the Noble is not able to power all my pedals, so I was thinking about a split cable.
I have a Warwick Rockboard that has a pass through for the power cable, so basically I'd need a Y cable with an IEC C14 plug on one end and two IEC C13 on the other ends. One of them should be 90°, for the noble.
Does such a thing exist? How did the proud owners of Noble Preamps solve this?
I put one of these on the bottom of the pedalboard: Amazon Sign-In

I have exactly that on my big board. An IEC that splits to two plugs. One for the Noble, one for the Pedal power under the board. Works well.

I'm sorry, but all I can see is an Amazon login page.

Yes, there are tons of adapters. I have had trouble finding one with an angled plug, though.
Short of buying a angled adapter too you probably would have to solder a new end on one of the y cables. I don't believe I've seen a y cable with angled ends for iec cables before

That seems to be the way to go. I've found a cable with angled IEC on one end and nothing on the other and ordered that along with a regular IEC13 to IEC14 cable.
A friend of mine is electrician - I don't trust myself with soldering 230V wires - especially when there is a $1200 device that currently has a 30 week waiting period on one of the ends.

Thank you. That piece looks sweet, but unfortunately, I'm in the EU and our plugs look a bit different.
I have a IEC C14 plug incoming along with two C13 to open end cables and will build my own.
To do that, I'll have to find out if the Noble fits on my board with all the other pedals, though.
To do that, I'll have to receive the Noble.
To do that, Jack has to send it.

Luckily, I received word this morning that my unit has been finished and will be tested and (if it passes) sent tomorrow.

I just tracked the bassline for this new song, Does Anybody Care by Carl Paradise. Singer is Alex Hirsch. I used a Fender American Professional P-bass with TJ flats, played fingerstyle, tone and volume knobs on full into a flat Noble pre and then a Focusrite to DAW. This is a lyric video format.

So it's looking like a previous power trio is coming back to life and this time there will be occasional bass solos. (Imagine that! :) I'm experimenting with automation of certain bass parts of the band's original songs with a DAW and decided what I need is a boost pedal for live play. Would be nice if one was built into the Noble, but it's not .... so a TC Electronics Mini Spark is on its way. For those of you've experimented, how does the external boost experience vary between placing the boost pedal before vs. after the Noble? I really don't use effects so I'm curious about how this might play out. FWIW, I'll be playing a lot more with a pick and some of the songs are aggressive surf rock tunes. Thank you!

This is great! And now I want a Noble DI, thanks a lot :cautious: …….

My fault for subscribing to this thread I suppose! :D

My Noble just got here this week! I'm very excited to use it this weekend.

I'm also working out how to power both it and a power supply on my board. Definitely leanings towards an IEC splitter that will be re-soldered to add a right angle to the one going into the Noble. Any suggestions or alternatives would be welcome!

I have the Pedaltrain Metro 16, so the tiny power strip isn't an option. Space under that board is definitely at a premium.

The boost pedal arrived and I installed it on the pedal board before the Noble. It takes very little juice from the booster to get what I need for solo passages -- maybe 8:00 or 8:30 on the Mini Spark's level knob. It will work better before the Noble because I've got two feeds coming out of the Noble -- one to the cab and one to the DI -- and I want them to sound the same.

The Mini Spark is definitely an "effect" placed before the Noble. Just getting familiar with options, but the simplest way to describe it is to use the Noble's bass cut switch as an analogy. When the bass cut switch is on, the Noble's tone is cleaner and of course with less low end information. Flip the bass cut switch off and the tone is bassier, more robust, and more tube infused for a better term. When engaging the Mini Spark on 8:30 boost, it's akin to being able to flip the bass cut switch one more click to the left. That position doesn't exist on the Noble, but the effect makes the tone even more infused with tube, fatter, richer, etc. You can put some hair on the tone by dialing the Mini Spark into 12:00-plus territory but that's not my goal. If it is, you can get "mild hair" but no grind like an overdrive. Or maybe you can -- my dog is sleeping on a matt next to the cab so I'm not going to go there right now!

The Mini Spark @ 8:30 with Noble bass cut off reminds me of another experience just after I got the Noble five years ago. At the time, I had a QSC PLX 3602 amp, which provided TONS of wattage and slam. Adding the Mini Spark also provides a sense of "slam" or gravitas to the bass tone. I've been experimenting through a Phil Jones PB-300 powered cab, which is fairly small compared to the giant Greenboy cabs I used to have. I will say this: carrying a teeny tiny Mini Spark is a heck of a lot easier than schlepping a PLX 3602 etc. around! What a great discovery!

Here is what my Nano+ now looks like:

I hemmed and hawed a few years back, but so glad I got the Noble. There have only been a handful of occasions where I did not play through it since, and something always feels missing... I've become a tonal minimalist and this has the most useful, simple tone adjustment I've come across (this is coming from one who is very comfortable with fully parametric EQs); it is just so musical and sits well in any mix. I've gigged everything from folk to grunge with the Noble (and a P bass with flats) and constantly receive compliments on tone.

Here is the first track from a recently released album (everything except the last track used the Noble). The engineer hadn't heard of a Noble before, but he absolutely gushed over the tone as soon as I plugged it in. We tried a few different tone settings before tracking and he liked a slight bass boost best (knob around 8:00). Treble flat, no bass cut. Bass is a Warmoth P that came together nicely. No knobs, tone is wired up to mimic 250K tone and volume pots on full. Strung with chromes. Enjoy!

My power delivery is now handled by a custom DIY solution.
Since the room on my pedal board is limited, I needed to figure a way to accommodate angled Power, XLR and 1/4" jacks, but it worked out well enough:

And I think I'm preaching to the choir here when I praise that little black box of tone.
Flats on my Jazz style bass, neck Pickup, Cali76 for some soft compression into the Noble and I have a tone that is nothing but warm, smooth, soft and round - but nonetheless sits audible in the mix.

Hi all, apologies if this question has been been asked/answered. I have a Noble on order, and am planning to use it as my power supply for 4 other pedals. Of those 4, one is a Darkglass Hyper Luminal Compressor and another is a Source Audio C4 Synth. The C4 is a digital pedal, and the HL is a hybrid digital/analog. I’m curious if anyone here uses the Noble to power either of those pedals and if there are noise issues with doing so? With the Noble not being isolated power, it sounds like it has a hard time with high mA requirement digital pedals, so I’m really hoping I don’t run into power issues with either the Hyper Luminal or the C4. Hoping to hear back some promising news from you all! Thanks for any info you can provide!

High current is no problem. Noise depends on the pedals. I eventually got a Voodoo box but still use the Noble to power my tube compressor because it needs very high current.

i powered both of these pedals without excessive noise problems and I have the treble cranked at around 1 o clock most of the time.
