Noble Amps Preamp

I picked up one off of Reverb recently and couldn't be happier with my decision. I did a blindfold test for my guitar player with a few different pickup/tone settings versus my Shiftline Olympic MkIIIs (a lot of those clips are posted in the SLO3 thread) and he picked the Noble three out of three times. It just sounds pleasing to the ear. I have seen the words "three dimensional" thrown around a few times. Words for tones are always tough, but to me that one rings true!

I should also note that Jack was exceedingly helpful over some emails detailing some questions and concerns. Super friendly with great technical expertise!

I'm grappling with the idea of running an OmniCabSim after the Noble. The sound out of the Noble seems so pure that I don't want to mess it up, BUT, everything I've heard with the OCSD sounds like an actual bass rig. I emailed DSM Noisemaker to ask a question and they told me they have several users who run the OCSD after the Noble and get great results. I'm leaning more towards it.

Sounds like a cool idea if you use distortion or fuzz a lot.

My sound is clean, or light OD and my effects are a synth pedal and an oct2. So for me, the direct sound works perfectly - it sounds real big in the mix like I want.

I use speaker sims when I record on rock records and want some dirt though. It sounds great.

I'm gonna guess that my experience has been like almost everyone else's...

After a minor panic attack-I forgot to tell my wife I was expecting a delivery today, so she ignored the doorbell this AM(I was still asleep), which was our mail carrier trying to deliver my Noble. I woke up about 10 minutes after this, checked my tracking, realized I'd missed it, started to panic, formulated a plan to try to track it down while getting dressed, and ran out the door. Luck was a lady for me, as I found our mail carrier after 10 minutes of searching two adjacent neighborhoods(I love it when a plan comes together!)!-I got the Noble plugged in and with zero knob twiddling, I heard what would loosely be described as the sound in my head! I did a bit of knob twisting and I had to stop and lay down because I was giggling like I'd lost my mind!

There is a sweetness, a fullness, a roundness to the Noble that not much else can even touch. I cranked the treble knob, which I don't do, just to try some slapping, and it was pretty glorious! I'm actually sitting here, contemplating selling my Arkham Sound Zephyr, which is an awesome tube preamp as well. There's just some mojo that the Noble has. As far as Noble hype, it ain't braggin' if you can back it up, and the Noble backs it up!

The rest of the weekend will consist of me dialing in the HX Stomp, which I got today also, for Monday night. The Noble is ready to rock!

Just picked up a unit and tried it out for the first time at church this weekend. Stripped out the pedals I rarely use and only ran with Tuner —-Markbass Compressore —- Noble XLR our to FOH (I run IEM only, no amp). The building is pretty sizable and pretty discerning soundman. He loved it right off, said it was very clean DI and had VERY little eq on my signal and nothing else (for other players he typically puts in some preamps, that sort of thing). Was using an MTD 535. I went back and listened to the audio of the services, loved the warm tones from it. I even had one of the senior pastors (who is also a musician) come up to me saying that the bass sounded very good this weekend and just sat perfectly in the house mix. So, it’s a keeper for me. Great unit for everything it does and a great portable form factor.
