Noooo! RIP John Wetton.

That "Night After Night" dodgy VHS tape above he's clearly using a pick. Maybe he was fluent and able to switch between them both mid song? Or he used fingers and held them pick style? Same with the "Nothing To Lose" video.

How the heck did I miss this??? Heavens sakes!!! He took the great Gary Thains place in Uriah Heep when Gary was injured and did so brilliantly. John was a marvelously creative man. Heep, Cromson, Asia..... Truly a huge huge loss. RIP my brother. Heavens rock band just gained a great great talent.

I had the privilege of being in the direct support opening band for 3 of Asia's recent US tours. John was the best! Not only a talented writer, singer, and bassist but a great hang as well. No 'tude like some of the others (CP).

Hanging with Sir John before a show!

The band I play with (District 97) was supposed to be Johns band on cruise to the edge. It was going to be one of his first live performances in quite a while. We were devastated when we heard he wasn't cleared to fly to the cruise. You can imagine how hard it was when we heard he had passed. In the months leading up to the cruise we learned around 13 songs that we were supposed to play with him on the cruise. He was a musical force both as a bassist and singer. I really enjoyed digging into his bass lines and getting inside his music.... especially the crimson and U.K. stuff. I never got to meet John (he did a tour/live album with D97 before I joined the band), but between the stories the band told (and continues to tell) about him and the work I did on learning his stuff, I feel like I knew him. We paid tribute to him on the cruise and will continue to do so with our music. John really believed in our group. He will be sorely missed.
