Not a bad halftime show

I found it entertaining...even "I" recognized the songs, and I'm a Boomer. A lot of live rap/hip hop falls flat for me, but somehow they made this show pop.

Eight-pages in and no mention of the opening emcee bit by "The Rock"? I thought that was a hoot! He looked like he had so much fun playing that part.

While I was really glad to not see ancient, semi-fossilized, Classic-Rock-has-beens from the 60s and 70s up there, I wish they would feature some folks from the present and future of music, not the distant past. Regardless of genre.
2022: Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak
2021: The Weeknd
2017: Lady Gaga
2016: Beyonce, Bruno Mars

Given the stature required to hold the attention of 100 million viewers, they don't rely as much on warhorses all that much.

I like H.E.R. as well. Not sure she's the next Prince, but the analogy comes up a lot. She's talented for sure.
The only problem with saying stuff like "H.E.R. is the next Prince" is that Prince had a few decades to be Prince, and time will tell if H.E.R. has that same level of lasting impact. If we are just basing it on pure talent and creativity, then yeah, her art is obviously more or just as impactful as pretty much anybody else you could name. You could call H.E.R. "the next Bowie" if you wanted to, it's not an overstatement if you are not taking into account length of career and a historical view of the cultural impact of the work - which is yet to be determined.

That was great. His arms are almost cartoonish big.

I did think he could have turned up 'The Rock' a little more, but I think he's trying to be more Dwayne Johnson now.

Full Rock might be too much for the NFL.

Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?!!!!

Slightly OT: It feels like St. Vincent would be the closest to the next Bowie, but yeah, longevity and cultural impact—as much as that’s possible in today’s world, with respect to the absolute paradise of variety we have at our fingertips now—are still to be determined for her, as well as, well… H.E.R.

The "target audiences" bemoaning their being ignored have apparently stopped listening to music if you look at the charts. It's not like Skynyrd is putting out anything new.

Kinda begs the question of how if it isn’t your thing, then this obviously isn’t your thread.

So…why are you here?

Yeah, Cable Guy wasn’t really a bad commercial. I feel like had it been on its own, it would have been funny.

I guess I was more or less taking everything together as the “theme” of the night. Putting all the references and throw backs together in such a short window, I w kept finding myself thinking “wow they’re really pushing this aren’t they?”
Yeah I agree it was laid on pretty heavy. I've noticed that a lot of 90s things are coming back with the younger generations. And is seems like us gen x'ers are now the age that we're the new boomers and get targeted with the nostalgia stuff.
