That’s actually pretty funny...
My wife and I both loved the cable guy commercial. I don't know, I guess I'm ok with being the target audience.
The industry is getting really good at masking prerecorded performances with offline live takes and other tricks. But from what I could tell that was all live, or at least the vocals were.
I appreciate that, as I'm not really interested in watching starlets dance around and act like they're singing over a recording like they're in their bedroom in front of a mirror with a hairbrush for a mic.
Given the way the industry went last year, the smart money would have been on the halftime show being Dua Lipa, which would absolutely have been a worthless lipsynced piece of stupidity. What we got last night was way way better.
I dunno, I'll have to go back and watch, but I thought we might be hearing Paak's playing there live - if not then he did a killer job matching fills, etc. Harder to tell w bass or guitar...First, I thought it was pretty darn good. I'm a hip hop fan.
Second, blame the Black Eyed Peas for it only being karaoke. After their performance, the show became vocals only. Now, Anderson Paak and all the other players played, they just did it earlier and it was recorded. That left just the rapping live, which was all excellent.
Last, we gotta pour a little out for Prince. RIP!
Everyone else in the lineup was a Compton product, Eminem stuck out to me as one who didn't fit the lineup. He is probably the best lyrical performer up there though.Eminem seemed underutilized. Wondering why.
I was eager to read this thread, and it's exactly what I thought it would be.
For those who haven't read this thread yet, yes, it's exactly what you think it is if you're under 40.
