Not a huge Jaco fan BUT...

You've been condescending from the start and nobody got upset. Think about it.
:D

Dude I'm not upset at all, I just find it funny that every point I make is taken the wrong way. I had to look things over to see if I were writing it in Chinese. In my opinion, that is what I think and feel about Jaco's influence on other players.

It's call witty not condescending. Although I'm sure you will argue that as well.

This is however a fact, we could spend the next year picking apart everything each of us has to say. Or we can simply agree to disagree.

One last thing, if you want to highlight things I entered, please see that I am replying to a previous post where someone wrote they couldn't make it through every track on a Weather Report recording. You might also want to highlight where I wrote "thats cool"

And no one said you can't feel or think that way *now try and keep up* (hoo hah, funny stuff;)) when you put your thoughts and opinions out here in an open forum do you not expect discussion?

You're not writing in Chinese, it's much worse... you're writing gross exaggerations. Over and over again. I find it funny that you still can't see that.

Chinese would probably go over much better.
;)

"Want to hear something that your small little 1 4 5 ears might like?"

Yeah... witty as heck. Especially the "small little" redundant thingy.
:D

No one is disagreeing to disagree except you.
:hyper:

Followed by the witty condescension, it really makes "thats cool" ring hollow. IMO of course.

And in actuality it doesn't look like you're replying to anyone in particular in that post. IMO.

I did however call that you would argue Brad.

God must be a boogieman, set the tone for that whole recording I feel. With all that space to play around Jaco's playing was brilliant and fantastically tasteful. I also loved the big fat reverb he had on his sound.

That's like saying the Earth is flat, I'm sure some of you will disagree.
:D

I bet you'll post again. Let's see if I called that.
:hmm:

No doubt your large giant 6 2 5 1 ears are blocking your squinty, can't see anything but Jaco eyes.

Funny, huh?
;)

If you truly don't see that what you wrote was condescending, fine. I believe you don't see it.

My Man I am very sorry that you are so thin skinned that something like my posts have made you come to the point of making this thread our personal bashing ground. By the way you pick apart everything I say it looks like a personal thing to me. Let it go, the hate will eat you up :crying:

Look if you don't like me or or what I have to say that's cool, but don't kill the thread with this nonsense, send me a PM and I can delete it.
That's a joke, did ya get it?

Lets move on and or we can start a thread called "one of us is a dick" and let people vote on witch one of us is the dick ! ! ! :D Joke again. besides, I think there was a mention of bellbottoms again and you missed it because of me. Joking

A few months after the release of Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Joni was contacted by jazz great Charles Mingus, who had heard the orchestrated song, "Paprika Plains", and wanted her to work with him. Mitchell's next work was a collaboration Mingus, who died before the project was completed in 1979. Mitchell finished the tracks and the resulting album, Mingus, was released in June 1979, though it was poorly received. Topping out at #17 on the Billboard album charts, which was a higher placement then her last LP, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Mingus still fell short of gold status, her first album since the 60s to not sell at least a half-million copies.

I'll respectfully opine that by the time Shadows And Light came out Jaco had already let a bit of the deification go to his head, resulting in some, uh, shall we say, less-than-tasteful moments. I'm way more impressed by his playing on Joni's Don Juan's Reckless Daughter where it seems like the synergy between his brilliant bass playing and her cinematic musical vision was at its apex. His entrance with the drums on "Overture/Cotton Avenue" makes me besmirch myself every time I hear it!

I agree. I saw that tour and the show I saw was way more tasteful than what's on Shadows and Light. When that album and video came out I was very disappointed, as it sounds manic and coked up compared to what I saw (at the Providence Civic Center). Still, at this point in time, I'm very glad to have it and I love both. It's wild to see Pat looking so young!

PS Summer of '79 was great! A few weeks later I saw Bob Marley at the Harvard Stadium with a whole afternoon of great bands.
