Not another Tele build! Yawn

Not sure how much appetite there is for this, but thought I'd start a thread for this Tele build. I got this chunky piece of walnut the other day which has some nice grain, but when I planed both sides up there's quite a bit of sapwood in it, so it will be getting a veneer on the top, more of this later.

Started by cutting the board in half and gluing up the body blank. This build will be be mostly done in my breaks at work so could take a while, but I do have a set of templates which should speed things up a bit.

Tele bass or 6 string?
Tele basses are pretty uncommon, so that would be cool. If it was a J or P bass that might induce a yawn!

Nothing wrong with that! The great thing about a capped body is how easy it is to chamber to reduce weight. I dislike heavy guitars so my two thinline Teles were heavily chambered.

I've worked with 4 outstanding pianists, bigbands, and horns with a guitar comp. Only 3 guitar bands. Guitar bands rarely play in flat keys signatures. I dig flats keys.

The thicknesser at work made short work of flattening the body blank.

Here's the veneer I'm using for the top. It's backed with some kind of stuff to hold it together. Not thick enough to allow for chambering as suggested unfortunately, but should look pretty cool!

Ran out of time but I'll try and get it stuck on tomorrow.
