Technically ... it's a Mackenzie Trench-style police box. Whether it's a Tardis or not depends on what's inside.
And whether the inside is bigger than the outside? Sorry, been a while since the good doctor was on any stations I can get.
I've watched Dr. Who here in the US since the 80s when it came on public television on the weekends. Now it's been on the BBC America channel since it was rebooted.
I grew up in England, so I've been watching the good Doctor since Tom Baker first started his run...
Disney now has the rights, so the latest episodes are on Disney + in the states.

Just took a look on the Dutch Wikipedia. Apparently it was broadcast here briefly in the mid-seventies, but parents complained that the aliens scared their children, so it was taken off.

Well they are now! Scary when I was 8 years old. Mind you all you had to do if they were after you was go up some stairs then they couldn't follow you!
Bingo, it's been a few years since I watched the show but if I recall correctly the intro sequence involves the police box/TARDIS flying against an outer spacey vortex thing as it travels through time. I thought the wood grain pattern sort of looked like that so I make a silly picture.
The reason the show uses a police box is that when they started on the BBC they had a very tight budget, so making new models was not an option - instead they came up with the explanation that the ship can disguise itself to fit into its environment, but whoops, it broke when it landed in London so now it's stuck looking like this police box model that we just happened to have around the studio.
Routs and roundover done. I don't hate the way it looks, but I'm considering a cheeky black burst around the edge to hide the seam.
It looks pretty good to me from this angle. 
I'd think the final finish would make the seam smooth to the touch as well. It's a unique look for sure.
