So there's a couple different "methods" I've run across for drilling string-throughs and getting them accurately lined up. If this is something you plan on doing on more than one occasion, I'd suggest building a jig.
But if you know me at all, I'm the guy that will build a template for every single thing I'm doing, partly because the template acts as a practice piece.

They aren't anything fancy and I'm fairly confident anyone on this forum could throw something like this together pretty easily. In the end, it'll save your blood pressure.
