Last night I burned my lower lip on a piece of pizza that I had left too long in a cast iron skillet, so I can really relate to the way that Bass must feel.
What, the neck that the owner purposely torched or the miraculously undamaged body that the fire somehow missed? This looks cooler than most relic jobs I've seen, tbh.
Fender Precision Bass! Made in Japan! Survived a Fire! | eBay
Early experiments with roasted maple...
Too much “mojo” ?? Well that’s in the beholder. Would I pay that much for it? Not even it was the last bass on earth.
Side bar: Have you noticed on Ebay that you will see a lot of postings with pictures of the same bass but different sellers? These sellers don’t actually own the bass. They are resellers (and very profitable) and it’s huge in Japan.
Yes, I have noticed that and wondered about how it works.
So you buy the bass and the seller goes and buys it from the actual owner? Or is this some sort of brokered sale situation where the owner has contracted with several sellers to rep the item?
One reason I won't even consider buying anything from Pitbull Audio.Yup, that’s how in works. This is a hypothetical explanation. Picture a big store with a lot of instruments, with price tags. Reseller sees bass A is selling for $1,200. They take a pic, post it on Facebook, EBay, Reverb with a nice mark up. The first reseller with a deal wins.
So what happens if seller A wins the deal but subsequently reseller B has has sold a bass? The send a message sorry it’s no longer available, and offers to send a substitute.
Back to reseller A and the selling process. So once he get your sale, he contacts the store, “Is xyz bass still available?” Buys the bass once your funds clear, and has the bass shipped directly from the store to you.
The reality more than likely is a clearing house holds the instruments, publishes the the listings (a catalog of sorts) resellers download them, then post them on media sites, complete the sales process without leaving their house.
