NoVA/DC/MD Fall GTG

OK, With one week left before the GTG, I need to ask the crew for some advice:
I currently live in the AU dorms in Tenleytown. What's the best (read: cheapest) way to get from there to Jive Sound? I don't have a car. I'm assuming the metro runs nowhere near there, and don't have any ideas about the bus situation.

Any and all advice is greeeaatly appreciated.

Au contraire, mon frere...from the looks of it, Jive is not far from either King Street Metro, or even Crystal City.

I'm sure if you called from the station, we could find a way to get you there. Not a promise on my end, as my sched. is a little flaky, but if available I would gladly take you to or from a Metro stop. Keep an eye on the board for other suggestions as well.

The Braddock Street Metro isn't too far either. From there, you just need to head north on Mt. Vernon Ave to get to the shop. That's one way to get there.

Yep, I did the Kelly Bell Band thing for several years...it was a fun band, but things just weren't evolving. The new band is lots of fun...kind of an *all-star* cover band (Link Removed) :p
We're at Champion's that night, so I'll leave the GTG around 6:30ish and be all cool...

Hey!! I have always admired your playing each I saw you w/ KBB, especially on a 8-string bass!...
Looking forward to meeting you. See you Sat.

Well unfortunatly I'm out. Due to the rain we had a couple of week ago the kid soccer season has been extended. Sooooo, that means I got 2 soccer games and 2 end of season parties to go to. Ah well, next time.

is the below still right?

The GTG is scheduled for Nov 5th. It's planned for start around 2PM and will go on until ???. After we close up shop, the plan is to go hang in Old Town Alexandria and/or Del Ray for drinks.

If you're wondering whether or not to bring that heavy cab of yours, there will be plenty of amplification available. Feel free to bring your gear for us to check out. I'll be bringing some food and drink, but feel free to bring some as well in case there's a shortage. As far as booze, if you're over 21 and not gonna get wasted and drive, it's cool.

It's gonna be at 3143 Mt Vernon Ave Suite 8A, Alexandria VA. The office suite has a sign over it that says Harrison Gypsum. It's in the back of the building, and since it's a weekend there should be enough parking in the lot. It's still a work in progress, and won't have a whole lotta space, but it should do.

I've heard some good things about Akasaka and Matsutake, and they are both in Alexandria.

Pencil me in. I'll be setting up shop, and afterwards I'll prolly be down for raw fish.

May as well make it a weekend....
I usually go to Auld Shebeen's in Old Town Fairfax for the football games on Sunday. It's been a Sunday tradition for about 4 years now. If anyone's interested in catching the games in relaxed environment, come on down. The address is 3971 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax.

I can't believe I have not seen this thread!! Thanks for the PM Jive1...unfortunately I am actually playing twice on the 5th AND its my brother's birhtday...I have a Festival gig at noon and then a Private party that night. Somehow gotta squeeze in an appearance for my brother. Count me in for the next one though!!

Peace,

T
