NoVA/DC/MD Fall GTG

nice,

FYI, i'm a drummer, too, but i injured my right leg from last week's club soccer game. :(

full disclosure, i'm a guitar player, too. :rollno:

my gear:

Sadowsky VJ-5
Demeter HBP-1
Demeter VTHF-300M
Acme B2

and if the 502 head doesnt make it, i can bring mine. btw, any word about my Thunderfunk? i think my Acme would love to take it home. ;)

I'll be joining youse (just like y'awl, but said with a Brooklyn accent) on Saturday and bringing the following:

EBMM Bongo 4HH
Reverend Rumblefish
.... both freshly set up by Dr. Phunkypants... and...
Fender Jazz Bass Special Fretless (MIJ)

My stable of terrific basses greatly outweighs my ability to play them well.

And did someone mention a small bottle of fine bourbon?

Jess

In case I forgot to post - I'll be there with my ever-present Quantum 6, and if I can get new strings and a setup going on, my Fodera as well. I can bring my Phil Jones Briefcase if anybody's interested in seeing how they are (awesome IMHO).

SHHHHH! My Fodera may end up for sale in the not-terribly-distant future, actually... so if ya play it and ya like it, keep it in mind for the holidays maybe. =0)

Just wanted to let folks know that with the amount of people bringing gear, I recommend bringing stands as well as cables (instrument and speaker). I'm kinda short right now.

Also, I share the space with another firm, so please be courteous regarding the rest of the space. I get the front "showroom", and they are letting us use the conference room downstairs. I might be short on chairs (8 plus the ones in the conference room), so bring one along in case.

It also looks like there may be more folks showing up than we thought. Anthony Wellington (Wooten's 2nd bassist) got word of the shop and proceeded to let all his students and fans know. E-mail and phone has been trippin like mad.

The PJ, the rep for Spector will be there as well and may have some Spector swag.

Should be an interesting gathering for the local bass community. If we run out of room, there's plenty of space in the parking lot. Maybe we can grill hot dogs?!?!

FRIDAY IS SUSHI NIGHT!!!!

The place is Akasaka
The address is 514 Van Dorn St., Alexandria.
Reservation for 8PM

Let's meet at the shop between 7-7:30 and get a carpool going. I don't drink, so I don't mind carting a couple of saked low-enders. If you wanna meet us at the Sushi bar, get there around 8.

I've never been there before, but it gets great reviews.

PM me if you're interested, so I can make a change to the reservation if necessary.

If it's the place I'm thinking of - basically across the street from the Red Lobster - then it's okay, not the best sushi I've ever had but not bad at all.

If it's a different place then right on, a new place for me!
