As far as gear:
There will be a Roland V-Drum, a guitar rig, and microphone so we can jam. I'm also planning on bringing a minidisc to record some of the jams for posterity. If the drumming is lacking, there'll also be a drum machine.

Here's what there now
Aguilar DB750, AG500, S210, GS112,
AI Focus 2
EA iAmp500, iAmp800, iAmp350
EA CXL112, CXL110,WizzyE
Schroeder 1210
Epifani UL210
SWR Henry 4x8
Accugroove Whappo Jr., Tri110L,Tri112L
Stewart PA1400,PA1200, World 1.2,1.6,2.1
Tech21 and Radial DIs and other pedals

What might be there (I'll know for sure on Friday)
EBS Pedals
Demeter HBP and some pedals
Epifani UL 310,410,115,112,110,210 & 502 head
EA NL210

hey Jive,

any word if the Epi cabs made it? wouldnt mind trying out a little 4x10 / 1x15 action w/ my rig.

I didn't want to be the first to post after the fact, but man that was awesome, thanks Jive for hosting (my first) GTG. Everyone that I met was too cool, I knew there would be a bunch of super neat woodsy basses, and amps and cabs that I wish I had, but I felt right at home with my "traditional 4 stringers" when someone said "that's the most beautiful P bass I've ever seen" (plz identify yourself)
I've never had the chance to hang with my ilk on such a level playing field in my life. I even mustered the courage to play AlanHasRadar's 8 string Conklin, what an incredible instrument, I hope to see him live someday.
*Priceless moment* When Jive put his hands on the new Roscoe, I was there with ya bro, I felt it.

I regret not trying the 'Scoe.

Again, thanks Jive, thanks Gard for the Roscoe, thanks JP for the original proto of the Spector (darnit, didn't take a pic), thanks to phunky for setup advice, and good to meet all of you, see you at the next one.

Is this the moment you speak of?

Had a great time. Lots of fine players, and the shop is great. Thanks for all the fun, and I look to return soon, Jive.

It was really cool you had the DI I've been looking for for quite a while. Great selection of great stuff.

Attention everybody - Indi86 has some serious chops - by the time he's "our age" (range of most players there was probably 27-35?) he's gonna be BEYOND SICK.

So I just spent most of my time outside drinkin' a soda =0)

What a great time. Thanks all, great meeting so many new TB regulars. We've really needed to do stuff together as a group more often, and now we can thanks to Jong's entrepreneurial spirit. I know it's a labor of love opening a shop like this, but labor it is, all the same. Thank you!

Gard and PJ, thanks for lending some industrial "street cred" to the proceedings.

Next stop: maybe to Phil's for "favorite bass moments on DVD"?

Thanks again guys, call anytime:

Again, so many thanks to Jong for starting this thing up and giving us all our own shop close to home...AND for opening up his place to all of us. Your hospitality was so charming I even lifted the seat when I peed :p

Being kind of a new guy here on TB, it was so great to finally put some faces to the posts (also good to know that you're all as ugly as me! haha!) Just more proof that the low-end peeps are the finest around.

I sucked that I had to roll out to play, 'cause I could've spent many more hours picking people's brains and hearing many great players playing many incredible basses through ridiculous gear!

I mostly posted so I could relive and recap the day in my head...Thanks again, everybody! :D

ps-So, what's next for this crew?? Getting together to watch vids, having libations and eating wings while chatting bass somewhere, field trip to Roscoe to visit Gard? :bassist:

A wonderful time indeed... thanks to Jong for the hospitality and the opportunity to check out his stock. I definitely hopes he can become the premier bass vendor here in the nation's capitol. It was great to meet more TB'ers too... we need to get together more often! And anyone who took pics, post 'em! :)

I would also like to underscore the following point: Jiver's continued success depends on one very simple thing--purchases. Specifically, ours.

I found it particularly fine form that the "business side" of our weekend together was not a topic of frequent discussion. Please just remember that if we want to have a store like this here, we need to give Jong our business, preferentially.

Wen you join a club, you pay dues. If you play golf, you pay greens fees. All hobbies cost money. In this case, that means trying to buy as much of our stuff as possible from the Jive-Monster.

I know I'll be getting my strings and other routine stuff through Jong. And I've also gone on the record as saying I'll buy a bass from him--although I've yet to decide which. After this past weekend, I think Roscoe's got the leg-up in that race.

JammaDave- i think your age range is a bit off, I'm 35, but it was more like 17(karrot is this you?) to (i don't want to offend kjones or jess) however young those gentlemen are.

Support your local bass shop!!!
I did, and my tasty new Radial JDI that I bought from Jong makes my worst bass sound like money. Seriously, it is everything I've been missing in a DI, gonna go post in the recording thread again.....

Thanks to everyone for coming. It was a blast!

Thanks for all the support.

Here's my recap for those unable to make it.

JammaDaves Fodera Yin Yang - I never wanted to have sex with an inanimate object until I played that bass. Tooooo sweeeet!

Joker is a Korean Stevie Wonder. He's jams on drums and guitar as well as bass.

Gard is a cool dude to hang out with, and plays a killer groove. Even though he holds the bass funny.

Dr. PP is a total bass nerd. Total

Kjones' fretless Sadowsky was so sweet. Playing it through a Aggie DB750 into Whappo Jr was just pure heaven. Tone city. I wish he played some EUB, because he actually could.

Indi86 has sick chops. Sick, I tell you, and he's young.
Hollowman too...

We hope that all went well with DHC's "appointment" with the opposite sex after dinner went well.

It was way cool to check out some SICK SICK Spectors with Buckeye Burl tops and backs  . The fretless was da bomb! We also got to see a piece of history with the first Spector. PJ was way cool, and a bunch of attendees will be getting some free Spector swag. COOL!

Sorry to Karrot cuz we didn't get to check out the M-Pulse. I really wanted to hear it, but it was tight in that tiny shop.

The Bob Glaub Skyline with Darkstar was a humble bass that stole the show.

The Roscoe SKB3006 was plain old sick looking and sick playing. I really did need a moment alone with this bass.

I got to play alanhasradar's 8 string, and completely fumbled on it. I couldn't come up with anything intelligible. Real sweet bass, too sweet for my palltry hands.

Phil, Jess, and JKrichey guarded the front door from intruders.

A few non TBers showed up, Chris and Darrin were some killer players.

And last but not least - Watch out for mudsharks. They are dangerous!

There were a bunch of killer players there, and cool dudes to boot. I know I'm forgeting to mention a bunch of stuff.I was having so much fun I really didn't take any pics. So if people have em, post em.

Thanks again for the support.

Yup.

I hear it everyday, the fact that it's in the rack case makes it really easy to transport.

Those Spectors were surprisingly nice (thanks PJ). Never had a chance to play the Roscoe, to many people soiled themselvs on it already. :0

It's good to know you didn't notice your Darrel Jones missing...

and by that I mean, I don't have your Darrel Jones...:hiding:

:ninja:

karrot-x is 17? My gosh, I have basses old enough to be his dad!

I'll tell you this: no matter the age of the player, everybody was a pleasure to listen to, and you could just feel the enthusiasm for the bass guitar. Somewhere, Leo Fender was smiling!

Ya, odly enough I got home and realised that I see you post a lot. As well as Indi86, the name just never clicked when I was there.

Crazy.

Le's just say I didn't make it back to VA till this afternoon :o

damn straight. That and Gard's Zon were my favorite instruments in the house.

Thanks again for hosting. I'm in the market for a couple sets of DRs soon, assuming you can mail 'em to my lazy ass.
