Maybe, but after spending the summer with the band after "Pale" was released (1990, they stayed a couple weeks near the micro brewery I worked at and were college buddies of my boss) and being a huge fan of REM, Connells, fIREHOUSE, Husker Du, Violent Femmes, Live and the rest of the "wuss-rock" as you call it scene starting in the mid 80s when metal turned to Hair and Leather over substance or depth or soul, I can honestly say "Wow, that was shallow"
