My 18th birthday was the first day I started Recruit training "proper" in the Air Force (first day of the course material, AFTER the touchy feely welcome they give you the day prior).

I'd rather forget my 18th birthday.

I had my first legal beers when I turned 18. The drinking age was different back then. I was smoking cigs at 16.

At that age everything and anything was a distraction from practicing bass (drinking, women, more drinking and occasionally play bass when I wasn't working or occupied with the things previously listed). If I had it to do over, I would do a little less drinking, a little more with the ladies and practicing and playing bass more.

Alright you want some serious life advice. Identify your pursuits. Establish a discipline that can be a peace of mind for you later in life. For instance, we're all bass players. Playing bass is a discipline. A discipline is necessary when you come home from a horrible day at work, or when life just seems to be plodding along in a rut. A discipline provides your mind a healthy stress release. The goal of life is to combine your discipline, that study which brings you pleasure, with a sustainable way to support yourself and potential family. Sounds simple right? Many of us spend our whole lives in this pursuit.

i have been working on being disciplined about some of my deeper pursuits and i have always believed thats the best way to go about anything, its sort of like the discipline it self is the path to the goal self-realization which is shaping up inside me but as always its harder said then done ......hope i would be able to follow it better

LOL. I remember flying Kingfisher from Mumbai to New Delhi, and they had that "ula-lalaleO!" at the beginning of every announcement, and at the start and end of the safety video. I probably heard it about 7 or 8 times all up throughout the flight. After about a week of it stuck in my head I finally forgot it, then I flew Kingfisher again between New Delhi and Chennai, and I was singing it for another week.

Such an annoying jingle!

i somehow want to form a fixed time everyday practice routine for my self something which i have never been able to do in the past? i would be glad if you share your music practice routine....

When I turned 18, I left my 17 yr old girl friend for fear of getting arrested. I also started making friends with older successful people in the fear that one day, I may need a real job.
