NPD - Creation Audio Grizzly Bass

i have both the Grizzly and the 48 volt version of the Holy Fire. my Grizzly is buffered bypass and the Holy Fire is true bypass, so i usually use the Holy Fire since it sounds nearly identical with the scoop on the Grizzly fully clockwise.

I ended up getting a regular buffered version I have quite a few pedals and a passive bass so it will probably come in handy

Sorry Jimbo, not sure about the buffer or true bypass, but I just scored #203 of this bad boy, I would imagine it's the regular buffered version, and I'm diggin' it!
I'm just coming off my honeymoon with the dp3x dUg pedal, and it's just too damned scooped for me, I LIKE MIDS!
The Griz really helps my overtones sing out! I like everything this pedal does. The two types of drive, the OPTION to scoop mids/boost lows, and the treble cut. It's quite a beast indeed!!! Show me some love Grizzly lovers!!

I should add, that I bought the pedal from the creator of this thread!!!! Ya never can tell!!

Confirmed Jeff, that beast is the buffered version. I am glad you're digging it. It was my mainstay for a good while, it's a beast of a pedal.

BTW, the Rusty Box I got in swap is a beast in it's own right. And exactly what I was looking for.

I'm sure the Barbershop is great, but some have said it doesn't always play well with hot/active basses so I stayed away. The Grizzly works great with any bass I own, from passive to hot active.

So does the MBD-1 for that matter. I tend to go Grizzly for classic vintage tones, MBD-1 for harder rock, but either will do either. Both are excellent pedals.

My only experience with the Barbarshop was in the studio. I don't even remember which track I used it on, but it gave me a totally different but very good flavor of overdrive. I liked it a lot.

Don't listen to him, man! The Rusty Box is a… well… rusty box! And the Grizzly Bass is GRIZZLY!!!! Which one would you want?

mmbongo let his go and it's now on my board. Mummmm...this is the secret sauce I've been looking for. I'm not using it for distortion, but tone shaping. I have a great preamp, but I was still getting too much honk, clank, and undesirable tone (IMHO anyway). If I rolled off the treble control or the tone control on the bass, I got the "wet blanket" tone. The Grizzly Bass gives me what I was looking for with the LPF and mid scoop controls and use the overdrive to fatten things up.

Looking forward to seeing what it sounds like live.

Well, just like @chadhargis is doing with it, I mainly used the Grizzly for tone shaping and not heavy overdrive. The biggest part I used was with the LPF along with just a hair of overdrive..really just enough to turn the circuit on. I also had a separate HPF. I did a major downsizing/consolidation of pedals and got a Broughton combo HPF/LPF and a Darkglass Hyper Luminal Compressor which can provide a little bit of hair if desired, as can the Mesa Subway DI which I also have onboard. Between the Darkglass and Mesa I can get all the overdrive I need, which would roughly be the equivalent of the Grizzly OD set at about 2...or just baaaaarely on.

It’s a fantastic tone shaper. I always used it with the distortion about 3/4 up and the OD half up. Gave a nice thick growl sound.

Pretty how I use mine too !!

this little beast sounds really excellent. I sometimes even wonder if I shouldn't have an another one, as it can do desert rock overdrive as well as 60's Motown sound !!
