How do you handle a B string slot?

I see file 4546 goes up to .120, any thing do a 130? or do I go old school and eyeball it?

You rock the .120 file laterally. Then, use a roundwound .130 to to do the final 'reaming' and shaping.

Rock the .120 slightly as you file.

As far as a 130, maybe I just need to stick with the drill index and papers to get a good parallel cut. Was hoping to find an affordable and simple solution from a file set.

Are those welding tip cleaners really as bad as some say? (Sold by various sources as nut files)

Not a bad idea but tedious when cutting a new nut. When using drill bits, go a bit undersized and wrap with emery cloth not paper. They conform better and are less likely to crease. Great for tweaking nut slots with minimal danger of removing too much material.

I rough them out with needle files and finish with the paper and bits. My emery cloth is a bit heavy to wrap around a smaller bit easily, I suppose I ought to pick up some finer grades one of these days.
