NUX MG-30 User’s

I am currently looking at multi fx units and like the looks of this one. Couple questions:
- Does it have a good true bypass? It will go on the board, but I’ll have a main preamp/DI and another couple pedals I’ll use mainly and don’t really want to have to get a loop pedal if I can help it.
- Does this have a xlr DI out? Couldn’t tell from the pics I’ve seen. Would like the option to just take this unit only to a gig if needed. I could use my amp DI, which is good, if needed, so not a deal breaker for me, just wondering.

it does not have balanced XLR outs.

live: mono line in > QSC CP-12 powered monitor which has XLR out.

studio: USB.

ahhh, yes, you can, that is correct.

not only that!

you can have THREE "SCENES" in each patch or preset that turn on or off FX blocks in the signal chain for that preset.

it's crazy!

compared to the Zoom G11 for $800!

now THAT'S comical.

Sick! That's like the snapshot feature in the Helix line. I'll have to pick one up for sure.

How is octave on this one...especially compared to the Zoom units you've played? I have experience with the B3n and found the octaver totally decent, definitely usable live, if unspectacular.

i'm not a good player to ask about FX like Octave-SHIFT - i never use it.

happy to help.

definitely did a deep dive into this thing.

i still look at other modelers - bang for buck, the MG-30 is hard to beat.

clincher for me is the REAMP and WET/DRY USB routing.

haven't seen this in other units, so far.


oh, and the 5 bass amps/preamps and 8 cabs are pretty spiffy.

i haven't even touched the guitar presets yet.

and since the MG-30 can record WET and DRY tracks simultaneously, I can process the dry track with any of my bass amp VST plugins.

I want a Bassman and an SVT sound and will be getting a Bassrig for my AIB/DI. Was going to get the 64, but if this has the Bassman, then I should probably get the SV pedal do I’ll have both options.

not dripping Fender good, but a better IR could get you there.

for a great Ampeg (SVT & Fliptop) and Bassman (and others) option, i highly recommend the Zoom B1-Four.

i forgot one of my fave VST sims, the PA Bassdude - EXCELLENT Fender Bassman.

and i just brain drizzled, i can use the Zoom B1-Four in the Effects Loops of the MG-30.

The B1-Four can turn off CAB SIMS (unlike the B2-Four) and i can use the MG-30 stock cabs and IR loader.

The B1-Four in the loop of the MG-30 seriously expands the amp selection.

still $100 cheaper than the B6 and great guitar sims.

the Zoom B1-Four is $79.99 on Amazon right now - a STEAL!

i've found Cabinet IRs make a huge difference with the MG-30 bass amps.

i didn't find that to be the case with the Zoom units - probably my old ears.

I have that same Shiftline pack and agree, they're really good.

I'm curious about Valeton too but no real feedback from real world bassist that I've found. The Ampero looks really cool. There's a user or two on here that has great feedback for it. But for $500 it's approaching the area of diminishing returns for a "cheap" but good multi.

I am currently running the MLD preamp, and I love the tones I get out of it! Great through my live rig, or IE’s. Might just have to revisit the MG-30. How are the compressers?

How's it compare to the boss stuff? I love my gx100 but I want it a little smaller. I don't need the foot pedal I just want the touch screen and 8 buttons though. That nux unit looks handy but not enough stomps for me.

The MG-30 comes with a 2 Button pedal.

plus the GX-100 is $240 more than the MG-30.

a closer compare would be the GT-1B.

I disagree with the limited bass options. Everything has a direct mix and level aka blend. Also the majority of bass pedals are just guitar pedals with bass in the description or based off of a guitar pedal. In the boss offerings I actually only use the guitar distortions and fuzz and blend in my cleans.
