Octave up suggestions?

Looking for a pedal that can do an octave up, but there seems to be tons out there. EHX alone has like 26 POGs and Pitchforks. Boss has the OC-5, but also the new XS-1.

I’m only looking for an octave up, though. No need for 3rd and 5ths and what not.

I’m not really picky about tone, I just want one that tracks well and has low latency in the $250 price range, give or take.

I was leaning towards the Pico POG but then I come here and other forums and read things like “I wouldn’t buy it for $50”

I'm a big fan of the Micro POG. It tracks very well and the tone is great. I use it for octave down but the octave up effect sounds good, too.

I'm using a Pog Nano on my split-channel board and it works great for the application I am doing where I am using it to kick the bass up an octave, then run it through various effects to achieve a rhythm guitar sound along with the bass.

I ended up getting a Keeley Octa Psi (Taiga) recently, which has a pitch shifter and analog fuzz. It's awesome and tracks very well. I really only wanted octave up, but the 2 octave up, octave down, dual octave, and detune are all highly usable. Pitch can be used independently of the fuzz, which is of the Big Muff variety, and their order can be swapped on the fly. Great pedal.

Many years ago I was interested in finding a pedal that would give me a good sounding octave up to try to make my 4-string bass sound like an 8-string bass (octave pairs). I don't remember which various pedals I tried, but I never found one that satisfied my ears until I got an Eventide Pitchfactor pedal. It was kind of a large pedal, but the sound was, IMO, much higher quality than other pedals. If I was looking today, I'd go with an Eventide H9. Its size is pedalboard friendly, and the quality of sound for octave up is, IMO, superior to other pedals. The H9 superceded their "factor" pedals and contains all of the algorithms of all of their factor pedals (if I recall correctly). Their latest version is the H90, but it's larger and much more expensive.

I'm looking for an octave up as well, but one that doesn't sound synthy..
for what it’s worth I tried the POG and Pitchfork today in a store. The Pitchfork sounded less synthy than the POG, but I suppose only you can tell if it’s good enough for you. Also, kinda hard testing pedals with 10 guitarists playing different Metallica tunes into Marshall stacks.

I use the OC-5 for both Octave up and down. It is what it is soundwise but it does work pretty well. It has the Poly and Vintage switch which can be useful. Like most of these boxes Octave down starts to loose coherence below B or A (4 string). The Octave up tracks really well pretty much all over the neck.

I recently got an Anagram and it uses a pitch shift model to do Octave up. To my ear it sounds pretty good. I believe Anagram models EHX POG, Sub 'n Up and the OC-5 for these effects.

The poly blue will get you a pretty clean octave up in poly mode. It tracks very well but it is digital and just the tiniest bit of latency because of it.

For no latency the pog seems like the simplest option.

TRex Quint Machine has the most natural sounding octave up to my ear. All of the others I have tried always have that slight digital ring or brightness that puts me off a bit. I have not tried the Boss pitch shifter Boss XS-1 that does sound promising.

FWIW I have been using a Donner Harmonic Square for octave up and 2 octave up that is tolerable and tracks well - not perfect but it's small and inexpensive.
