I will open with 'have your cake and eat it'. I have never eaten a cake that hasn't been in my possession at least in part for some period of time (mostly brief) before consuming it.

When done eating said cake, I no longer care to have it in my possession.

It being gone after consumption is a good thing in my opinion.

"It is what it is" is a way of dismissing someone's complaints. You're essentially saying "That's the way it is and I refuse to consider it one second more. It's not open for debate."

I don't even take pennies in change anymore. Fairly worthless in today's economy.

When we were kids we would collect pop bottles and get two cents per empty bottle. Wow...you could buy a whole big bag of pure sugar candy for the effort! The dentists loved it! Ha!
