Offal / organ meat - Yum? Or no?

I'll try just about anything, once.

I used to eat calf liver regularly. I have eaten tripe in menudo. Ox tail soup was wonderful. Chicken hearts and liver were either fried and eaten or cut up and put in gravy--LOVE 'em. I've never had 'chitlins, but would definitely try them. Grandmother used intestine as casing for home made sausage. I never had a problem with that. I've never had kidney.

Sheep's head is delicacy here, complete with eyes, tounge and brain. Or was, more like. Lung-mash and blood-sausage used to be eaten here a lot of decades ago, though I doubt anyone else than people over 80 years old eat it any longer.

I don't like any intestines much, unless it's sausage or steak and kidney pie.

Maybe liver in liverwurst or pate knowingly. I will generally try most foods but just knowing what it is like kidney for example turns me off and I'm sure that these things can be prepared to be tasty. I just can't wrap my mind around eating that stuff.

I do not necessarily agree with the post about entrails/offal being food for poorer people. It makes sense to not be wasteful and use as much of the animal as you can. Plus a lot of it is cultural too. My mom tells me that growing up she liked lambs tongue and my grandmother ate lutefisk which I find to be nasty.

I suppose if I were brought up eating that stuff as a kid I would be fine with it.

I'll eat anything that used to be moving, and lots of things that weren't, or still are.

I don't go after tongue or anything when steak is available, but lots of the Mexican food places in town use tongue, tripe, brains, eyeballs, etc in their tacos and soups. Good stuff.

I've only met one sausage on earth I didn't like (Braunschweiger), and lots of sausages have some funky parts in them. Doesn't matter, I'll eat it and like it.

Anyone else watch Bizarre Foods on TV? It has me itching to try chicken's feet and deep fried bees with fermented shark steaks.
