Thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't aware of the TJ cut. I thought the deeper cut into the body on the lower horn had something to do with the longhorn/shorthorn difference. I'm glad I asked! Looking at the 2nd photo though, I can definitely see the long vs. short in relation to the upper horn. I knew I was in the right place!

Always had a thing for the Mockingbird shape. Gotta score one for myself one of these days. It's about the only thing I'm missing or haven't had at one point or another!

Thank you so very much! It is American made isn't it? I hope so! I bought it from a friend about 10 years ago and paid $300 for it. It plays great, sounds great, I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Thanks again!

Just realized my baby just turned 30!!!

Ha ha ha ha $300, even for 10 years ago, you robbed the poor bugger blind, it's worth FAR more than that

Yes it is American Handmade :)

I was wondering if anybody here knows of any BC Rich Collectors forums? I'm trying to find a Green warlock like Bobby Dall from poison. I have light pink warlock my older daughter is in love with and now my other one wants one but in a green color so now I need to find one of those.

If you're on Facebook, there is the B.C.Rich Junkies page, search out Mike Greco there, he has had some green Warlocks before

Made in Korea, early platinum series warlock bass. Seriel number E704320
Has the shorter body then more recent warlocks. Like my american was whose case was to short for the nj warlock I also had at the time. Good 1 and half inches shorter body length (shorter rear horns). Which to me looks better overall then the longer versions.

Red with black hardware, high output P pup crunchy rather then smooth voice. Agressive voice oriented which is just right.

I'm guessing 84 or 94 for yr of mfg. Hopes someone has certain date for him. But I think they switched to the longer rear horns before 94. I remember the nj series of the time changed first, then platinums got longer body the next yr or later in the yr. Local store at the time was dealer so allways had half dozen or more. Was first thing I noticed when new nj's arrived with longer rear horns making them not able to fit cases of previous models. lol

K derek, so probably 1987 going by serial number E7.... with decade not specified. Sounds about right as the washburn original force abt series was my other fave basses at that time. And I think that jives with changeover for body length, like 1-2 yrs max later.

This ones 20 & 1/4 long top horn to its rear horn. 17 & 1/2 lower horn tip it its rear horn tip. And from top front to rear bottom horn tip is 22 &1/2 inch. Overall length of bass 49 & 3/8th.

Took long time to find one of these original size warlocks. Excellent condition, well cared for, previous owner apparently had fret level and crown work done to keep frets real nice. very nice coloring to fretbaord, practically no sign of fretboard wear. Did not come with a case, but fits my bc rich bass gig bag with room to spare unlike my previous warlock with inline headstock that barely fit it. Lol. Excellent sound. Very nice find for me.

Which creates a mystery. While I know class axe basses generally had plywood body. There where prior to this bc rich imports with solid alder body (verified is solid wood body not plywood in control cavity). Like mine has. Qaulity tuners (actual gotoh), bridge, pots, pups, necks, fretwork and fretboards. Or did class exe do their first yrs or so with qaulity stuff before going south in that regard? I do remember seeing mid price bc rich passive basses for a just a few hundred bucks, yrs before class axe days. The other one I owned back in 87 or early 88 was same except for crackle finish. Black and red. That one I know was early class axe with real wood body or just before class axe. But I think had more ornate neck plate.

Fretwork is absolute pro excellent so I figure previous owner had that done by a pro at some point. Practically no sign of fretwear after all these yrs. Came with roundwound strings that sound so new store may have put them on. Though seller may have done that shortly before selling it to GC.

Heres closeups of headstock. Neck plate is completely blank except for serial number E704320 stamped into it. Isnt the more ornate stamped class axe One I also remember seeing.

If my red one had had the longer body Id of figured it was made by whomever took over after class axe's disaster yr. But shorter body makes it 1987 to early 1988 or before 1987. So question I'm wondering is who did a run of korean imports for bc rich before class axe?
