Okie dokie, I'll promote johnk_10 to #4 since that seems to be the consensus. He does have a crapload of Ampeg gear- probably the most in the entire thread!

at my gig on thursday, my pro-6's power cord started smoking! turned it of and the kettle lead had melted! thats i think where the smoke came from! taking it to mansons in exeter where i bought it. but im intrigued to know why the hell is wrong with it!

Andy, forgive my American English processing brain but what exactly is the "kettle lead"?

Assuming that the mains fuse in your amp is the correct one, that sounds like a bad connection in your power cord as an overcurrent condition within your amp would certainly cause the mains fuse to open.
