I'm wondering if Ashdown still makes the MI 1x10 250watt cab, it's not on their website, Sweetwater doesn't carry it, I've only seen it on Musicians Supply for $249.99, but it may be old stock.No confirmation! Just a strong assumption! Don't quote me!

I'm using a GK MBE 212 (the old version). 600W and 4ohms to get the full power from the amp. I'm in love with the cab. It doesn't weight much and it does sound good. I was more into 4x10 cabs but since I mostly play small gigs I decided to try a 2x12 and I was really impressed. Especially for the price.
My previous amp was (and still is) a Line6 Lowdown HD400. I love the amp. Great versatility and awesome bass tone to my ear. However, I've loved the tone from ashdown amps since I got the chance to hear one. Even though I think the Line6 is a great amp, the quality of the ashdown can be noticed very easily from the very best note I played. I won't even try to sell the Line6 because I will use it as a backup and I like it, but it is ABM time now haha. I still have to take the pics next Sunday

They are blowing out a lot of Ashdown gear right now for great prices. I bought mine there and it's 8 ohms.

The Bass Place has one on ebay for a starting bid of $99 and on their website for $149, but they say their 4 ohm and the Ashdown site has them at 8ohm.

Ok, the pic I promise. My Ashdown ABM evo II with my Ashdown driver. Two VUs getting crazy! The band told me taday (it was the first rehearsal with the new amp) that they didn't notice much change from my Line6 Lowdown. To me the difference is huge and they say that it sounded like me, like it should be haha. I love the tone. I never listened to an amp that I liked this much

The dial settings on Javi's picture just put me in mind of a question I've been mulling over for some time. What do you like for your ABM 500 settings?
I have Input at either 12 noon or max. I can't decide which works better. Active is on and EQ shaped curve is off. EQ set to taste, and varies a lot with the room's size and characteristics and the music I'm playing.
If Input is maxed then the valve drive in my view sounds good at anything less than 10 o'clock, but sounds harsh at any higher setting.
If Input is at 12 noon then valve drive can go to max and that sounds good too.
I really like the harmonics. I usually have it set to 3 o'clock.
But I'll generally have either valve drive or harmonics, rarely both at the same time.

I only tried it out yesterday but the settings were pretty much the same than in the picture (even though I cut the mids a little bit in the end).
The sub harmonics were at 3 just to try, but I don't really like them so I don't use them.

While I was playing with the band the VU moved 1/4, except for peaks that reached more or less the middle. Maybe I should increase the input but it sounded fine yesterday (and loud!)
Yes, input at 12 and valve drive at 10 is my default position too. With input higher than 12 it becomes very easy to overdrive the tube. The tube hasn't broken yet! It seems very solid.
In searching the internet I found exactly 1 review on that cab and the guy loved it. Said he actually takes it to regular venue where he used to bring a 1x15. He updated the review a year later and likes even more now. 2 of those powered by a GK MB500 should be a great mini-rig. Was looking at the Ashdown Rootmaster 420 but man there is nothing on the webs about those amps, from just ordinary users, not endorsers. Funny, they been out for 1 1/2 years. Jim
I normally run my two with an Ashdown MiBass 2.0 and they sound very good with it pushing them. Although, they REALLY open up with my Kustom KXB500. The MiBass just doesn't seem to have the same amount of horses under the hood. Speaking of the Rootmaster 420, there was someone on this board that had one. His comments were that it was somewhat polite sounding. I think he meant that it just wasn't a super loud head. He seemed to love the tone....
I have a MiBass 2.0 head and Mibass 110 in transit from the Bass Place now. It should arrive on friday. On the Bass Place website, in the description of the MiBass 2.0, it says,
"We have been advised that these amps DO NOT work well at 4 ohms. These amps have been fine with an 8 ohm cab, but some heads have issues when hooked up to 4 ohms. So, we are only recommending an 8 ohm load for use with this head."
I was wondering if you or anyone else has had any issues running theirs down to 4 ohms. I was originally planning to get a Kustom KXB500, but when I saw the price on this, I couldn't pass on it. Ebozzz, since you own both, could you weigh in on how these two compare? I only bought one cab for the MiBass because I have an old ABM-410h in my practice space that I leave there because it is so heavy. I thought the 1x10 would be good to have to practice with at home and for playing smaller gigs. Would you recommend getting a second one? Thanks

That Mark is none other than Mark Gooday of Ashdown. At least, the return address implied as much. I also communicated with Dennis of The Bass Place as I liked the tone of the MiBass so much after receiving it that I gave some thought to acquiring a second one at the price that I may have been able to get one from there. Evidently, that statement on his site is based on feedback that he has received from customers. Mine? It's been running 4 ohm loads with no problems since I received it in late February....
Both are very good sounding amps in my opinion. The Kustom is definitely louder, easier to use (dial in) and has more booty. If I could only have one, it would be the KXB500. That's just me though. As is, neither one is leaving my place anytime soon.
I don't know your personal situation but at the cost that I was able to acquire two, it was like how could I not go for them? Not sure how many they still have left in stock at TBP. Every other seller has them going for a lot more and I don't think that they are in production any longer.
