Used it last night. What a beast. It does have more bass than the SVT and a little less mids, but my Orange Terror bass never sounded beter... . Our drummer did "complain" a bit about it moving to much air. He felt it thumpin' in his chest from across the room. I think that's a good thing... :D

You have to play it throgh an Klystron Amp like me. Best match ever!

I have a recent ABM 600 evo 4 that has gone silent . Does anyone care to recommend a repair/tech in Birmingham, Atlanta, or Nashville ? Are there fuses I could check ? -thanks in advance-Oatis -The lights come on but NO hiss or hum through the speakers.

I just bought a discounted RM 500 evo. Used it yesterday with the band rehearsel. I am very happy with it. I have it hooked up to a Hartke HX112 and an Ashdown ABM 410. I also have an Ashdown ABM 115, but that one is to boomy for my taste. The Rootmaster head sits on top of an old ABM 300 evo II.

I am in love with my RM 500 Evo. The EQ is one of the best EQs in the Class D amps IMO. Even though, the Bass control affects a frequency a little high for my taste, it also makes it sound not that boomy. I really like it.

Hey guys. The other day I saw this used. It's an Ashdown Labs D600 for almost nothing. I was really tempted to buy it. However, since I already have three amps, I finally declined it. Have anyone of you used one of these? I don't really like graphic EQ because I get lost easily (the ABM EQ is enought for me) and the lack of a valve in the preamp makes me think that I was gonna miss my ABM Evo II. Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this head

Even without a tube that head ought to be bought (if it works ). My Superfly 500 has a graphic EQ and it is the part of that amp I really like.

There are a couple of fuses you could check inside...will have to open it up. Ashdown have been pretty good just posting out some new fuses when this has happened to me in the past.
I'm guessing its silent even with the valve drive off (via switch)?
One thing i would check too is the FX send/return. If the FX socket goes on the rear (as mine did) the output will die too. Stick a patch cable in between FX send and return and see if that makes a difference? (I have one permanently in mine now...until i can be bothered to get it sorted).
If that doesn't work get onto Ashdown support via their website, they are excellent at this kind of stuff

I'm not an Ashdown guy. But wanted to share an Ashdown story, that who knows may change my path to becoming more of an Ashdown guy. If I have replied to the wrong thread in the Ashdown community feel free to boot me off. I won't be offended. Last week I traded a well gigged extremely reliable 28 year old Peavey I couldn't even give away with a Little Giant 1000w it's owner (Ashdown enthusiast) also couldn't get rid of. At worst we both have a new toy to tinker with right? After reading what's available I am now I'm possession of what seems to be one of the most hated Ashdown units in history? It's practically unused and has only had backup duty. Not tested yet in a band situation, I'm loving the sound of this little guy and I have plenty of 4 ohm cabs lying around and as yet can't detect any lack of volume or Heft. When it's cranked and you strike hard the unit does sometimes shut off briefly and my bass is quite hot but this seems to be a matter of being sensible and not sure there is a fault more like a protection circuit. I will report back after more use as I was expecting a piece of junk but have been pleasantly surprised and am looking forward to using it in the front line :) if it holds up!

Love my CTM-30 that I use in one rehearsal space into an old Peavey 4x10 cab - loud enough but does give me reason to tell the two gui****s to keep it reasonable ;) . I do like a fair amount of OD - otherwise it would be no way with a drummer.

I picked up an AAA-30 8" combo a while back for an acoustic project that didn't launch so never had it out of the box until last week. I had it on 11 but it did keep up with a well behaved drummer and guitarist - none of the specs say but it does OD nicely rather than clip when "pushed" :) . At 24 lbs an easy carry .

First Practice at volume with my first Ashdown. The purists may dislike the Peavey cabs. But they are a deltalites faital pro combination and LG sounded super through them. I can understand some of the usability at 8 ohm criticisms however if 350 ish is not sufficient the other half of the amp could be connected. At 4 ohms one power amp has enough volume for me at least. I like it so far. :)

Had a great night with an ABM500, 2x12 GB NEO, and P bass
Outdoor benefit gig on a concrete ice rink with a glass ceiling that is at least 75' above
A crowd of about 200
Amazingly good acoustics; 5-piece band; vocals only in the PA; drummer brings a larger kick drum

I played the same rig a week earlier with an SWR SM400 (indoors) and it sounded great
Last night was better in that I was looking for a little extra "harmonic content" and the rig delivered in spades.
I have worried about this head having enough power as the SWR feels MUCH more powerful at home.
VU meter hadrly ever touching the red; master at 10:30; EQ mostly flat with the highs rolled backl; FEA compressor and F'deck HPF; way loud and full outdoors! Very pleasing grind for 3 songs with a pick. Finger sound for R&B, funk, rock, was also killer. Tone control on bass went from plenty bright to thump deep.

When will these guys use the same EQ and build a bigger Class AB amp (not stereo)?
This same amp with 1kW of power would be even more awesome!

Getting back into dat bass and have settled on the Ashdown OriginAL C112, my first was a Orange Crush 100 but sweetwater doesn't have any in stock. Unable to play it in person but liked what I heard via vids etc (yeah I know ymmv). Anyone using it with some added fuzz like a pedal or something? Seemed to have a good deep sound. But curious on the mid/top end.

I know this post was a couple of months ago, but I was wondering if you ended up getting the OriginAL C112 and what you think of it.

Hey guys,

I have a problem an Ashdown Toneman 300 amp. I'm using the Aggie Tonerhammer DI for my main sound and I tried using it through the effects return of the amp. I got my sound, but I noticed that on higher volumes I started getting volume drops. Was I overpowering the input or what was happening? I'm supposed to use the effects return to bypass the preamp right?

Hi Ashdown Tribe,
I've had a 1x12 Ashdown practice amp forever and love it. As I prefer the sound of my practice amp to my performance amps (a solid state Ampeg and a Sunn), I'm looking at buying a hybrid head loud enough for both electric rock band practice and small gigs. My cab is an Ampeg 4x12 (the one Geezer used to play). Two questions (somewhat following from Jim C's post above):

1. Any immediate reactions to buying an EVOII 500W versus an ABM 600 EVO IV? (I'm also looking at a Handbox R400 but it may not have the required volume.)

2. Is there any difference in features for ABM 600 EVO IV with different face plates? I've seen 3 different face plates on the same model head (not rackmount): small Ashdown "Magneto" text only; "ABM 600" in big block letters on the front in white; ABM in big block letters on the front in black.

Thanks!

So, I just received two Ashdown RM-112T cabs! I’m extremely impressed with these cabs! Great bottom end, nice punch, but the highs were a bit tame. I haven’t tried the cabs with the tweeter in the on or negative positions, but will tomorrow when I have more time. Using the cabs with a GK 1001RB-II in the factory “flat” eq. Boost on the head at 9 o’clock made the house shake. Put the eq in the “truer” flat position, boost at 9 o’clock and had a crap load of warmth with more mids than I expected. Not sure if I like that yet. My bass is a 2003 MMSR5, Maple fretboard, and 2 month old med bass boomers. I had the treble rolled completely down. Picks and more tomorrow! Awesome stuff!

If you can get a good deal on the II I don't think you'll be missing out on too much over the IV. The IV has extra EQ and a built in compressor. I had one for a little while, but got rid of it and just kept my II. Been really happy with it. But you really can't go wrong with either.
