Hey Nuage, how's the preamp on their tube amps? I almost bought the 200w, it's just having a fully passive eq is an iffy thing to me. Flat being dimed, cut only knobs, and being at the mercy of the amp doesn't quite sit well with my gut if I can't play it first. Know what I mean?
It's like another language. Still learning it but getting better at dialing in different tones. The toggles make massive differences and change the curves as does the position of each knob. I have to take notes of positions to be able to reference back.

That's what I'm getting with the evo. Just, different. I've always played ampeg. Three knobs, flat at noon. Never really had all these options on my amp. It was weird at first, getting used to how the eq reacts with itself, but I'm getting it. It's not really foreign anymore.

Can't recall who was asking about the flat settings, but IIRC for the ABM, the EQ and tube drive disengaged and shape set flat, should be flat to my knowledge. The tone stack is bypassed as well as the tube, so it's essentially just the input signal passed off to the output amplifier.

That's a great way to put it. I love how intuitive it is. You can just use the low, mid, and treble controls, then the sliders if you want to tweak a certain freq.

Yeah. And also, a slight bump either way of the sliders seem to drastically control how the knobs work. It's weird, it plays with itself. Everything seems to react to/with everything else.

Just wait till you add that 210!
I put wheels on it rob.

Yes, I am Rob from the comments. I've thought about casters. Did you get them from the hardware store?
No, I had them.

I buy all my castors off Amazon. These ones are 2.5"

But, I found some 3" blue ones. They're on their way. Should suit it a little bit better.

Hey guys, quick question. I have an opportunity to grab an Ashdown rig locally. It’s an older ABM 500 EVO II, silver face with an ABM 414t II cab. I get very little info on either of these with Google searches. Does anyone use either of these pieces? If so can I get some input? The big thing I’m looking for is cab weight. Both are in really good condition and seem to be Made in UK.
Thanks

Let's see if I can help.

I've owned the head before, and it is outstanding - one of those "sheesh, why did I ever let that one go?" pieces of gear.... [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] The Gallery in London is selling one (2nd hand) so there is a ton of info to be found at that link.

That doesn't look like the 414T cab, but it does look like the ABM-410H-EVO IV CABINET. I say that just based on the naming standard, and speaker cone colour... but I could be wrong.

Because they are both outstanding chaps, I'd suggest emailing Dave Green and Guy Morel at Ashdown. They will soon set things straight :)

Good luck

I don't have experienced with that cab, but I have gigged with an ABM EVO II head paired with an ABM 410 EVI IV for years and I loved the tone. Those ABM heads are really great.
