I'm not sure I understand. Wad it up and put it where? Do you mean stick it onto the backplate and use it to lift the plate? It was well stuck.

hmmm...why was it stuck so hard? I guess after you move it once, you won't have a future issue...

another method would be to use a suction cup or two. Those little neoprene cups that are used for those "baby on board" signs in cars would work even better than wadded-up tape.

Yes, but loosen it slightly to bust everything loose first before tightening. If it balks when tightening, slacken the strings to remove pressure on the trussrod. If it's still hard, backload the neck (search) to remove all tension on the trussrod.

As I recall, these adjust pretty easily if you loosen them first, but I seem to recall some of them being a bit stuck on the neck finish so they should be backed off first to get it unstuck without the added strain from tightening.

It should adjust reasonably easily. If not, stop and figure out what's wrong.

Thanks for the advice. I always slacken my strings before I adjust a truss rod. I was wanting to slacken it by the way. I tune to DGCF so the reduction in string tension makes the truss rod pull the neck too far back and I tend to get choking on the low frets.
Sorted it now but it took a while longer than I expected for the change to occur. I guess it's quite a stiff neck what with the 3 section construction.

The truss rod turned nice and easily. I just stuck the end of a suitably sized screwdriver into one of the holes on the heelwheel and gave it a quarter turn anti clockwise.

The action is still nice and low but the desired result seems to have been achieved. I can hammer away with a pick on the strings while fretting low down and I don't get any excessive fretbuzz. I still get a bit but I quite like a bit as it gives me a bit of an aggressive tone.

Just thought I would post a pic of my newly built/added thumbrest.
I made it from a black cutting board (yes there is some flake or something in it) from Lowe's ($4.99...cheaper then buying a Fender thumbrest). Plus, if I didn't like it...or wanted to make it different, I have enough material left over to make about 7 or 8 more.
I made it that style to use the existing screw holes...I don't mind adding holes...but I thought I'd try to not this time.
Anyway, here you go....

My name is Stray and im the bassist for a local Oklahoma band called "The End of The Road". ive owned my ATK for roughly 3 years and love it, one of a kind (at least I dont see it often) so here it is.

I've got the same one so not quite one of a kind, but they were limited edition so there aren't too many around.

I make it three of a kind! I got mine a couple of months ago from the TB Classifieds (from Jarrod Cunningham I believe)

From what I've researched, they are a limited edition model especially for Guitar Centre, mine was originally purchased in 2008 so I dunno if they've stopped producing them. As Guitar Centre is a US company, people from the UK (like me) don't have them. As far as I know, my bass is the only one in the UK!

Some slight points: I love the tuners on this thing! They look rustic and beaten up (my pickguard looks the same, don't know if it's accidental damage or done on purpose, but it adds character I think) Also the sound is fantastic, sounds similar to a stingray and is tagged as "The cheap man's alternative". I completely agree!

Am I the only one with a fretless ATK? surely not.

By the way...the fretless ATK does the Pino fretless 'ray thing very well. A tad rounder in tone, IMO.

Nah, but I'm not really a slapper.
The top edge is in the same location as the top edge of the front pup on the 750.
The cool thing about that tape is you can move the thumbrest around and find a spot that works for your preferred style of playing, without damaging the top.

Yes. Presently my ATK700 has D'Addario Chromes (ECB80SL).

I have Chromes on my ATK 3ex1, I LOVE IT!!! And when you need to slap, it still sounds great! One thing tho, I wasn't ready for the big jump in string tension with my chromes and had to do a major truss rod adjustment and action adjustment, but that's cause I used to use extra light gauge strings. Keeping that in mind, go for it!!
