I understand that. In that case I would PM Lineman6, he is the go to guy on TB for that kinda info, IMO.

Schematics for the old style and new style are posted somewhere in this thread, if he needs it to help you out.

I would be interested in that mod(if it can be done), myself. I'd like to hear back on that one for sure.

Thanks, I will for sure.

The more i think about it, the atk has several other issues, like the screw holes for the battery and electronics on 2 spots have broken, like good sized chunk of wood gone. So im getting more and more tempted to sell this atk cheap and my electric guitar and use that money towards another 5 string atk.

Idk though. I love the sound, love the look, love how it plays, its perfect for me. but all the issues with this one is a pain.

One of the members in Leftybasstist.com put an on/off switch on his bass, that looks just like the original switch. That would be much easier than a push/pull switch, or changing out the entire EQ system.... here's a pic -

Eric Czar, bassist for Joe Bonamassa, uses what looks to be an older ATK305. absolutely sick, his work with the band is fabulous ALL the time, his fingerstyle tone is superb, but this really shows the beauty that is the slap sound of the ATK. enjoy.

Also, I wanted to add that I am still rocking both of my older ATKs, one natural and one black. I have some pretty sweet stuff being done to the black one right now. I won't give it away, but am super excited about it. should be able to post a little family shot in the next few weeks :)

Are there any more famous bassists that use ATKs (Apart from Scott Reeder, Greg K, Mike Dean)?

Well, bad news. After my ATK305 has been getting fixed, and been gone for over 2 weeks now, After the detached wire was fixed the big problem reared its ugly head: Messed up Preamp/motherboard... Great
If this ends up costing alot to get it repaired, i probably will go all out and get a new preamp. Any suggestions? and will the switch become useless, or will it be possible to get it to function normaly with a different pre?

Last thing, can someone tell me how much the Bassculture pickup replacements cost? does he do preamps too?

Man, sometimes i wish i didn't love this bass so much haha

The switch is a typical ON-OFF-ON but the board it's soldered to has a high cut filter... but I digress, you should be able to still use both pickup and switch with a preamp that only needs a hot lead and a ground.

The last price I got a couple of years ago for a Bassculture pickup was about $230, IIRC.

Well, the pre/mother board needs to be replaced in mine. Pretty sure i'll be getting the Glockenklang, like in the "ultimate atk" thread. I would sell it and try and find another used, but i doubt i would get much. Perhaps as parts maybe a lil more..
I just dont know if its worth it because of the wood chip at one of the screw holes (like broke off) and in the battery compartment one of the lil metal things the screws go into is gone.. Of course it doesnt effect playability... and if i do end up finding another ATK 5er, i could put the pre and pickup in that...
hmm...
I do love this bass too much haha. I'll end up asking for the pickup for christmas, and getting part of the money toward it instead...
blah. Sorry im typing for myself here. Rant over :3


So, any advice on pre amps, some reviews on what pre's have worked well, etc?
