So i've gone ahead and ordered a switchcraft jack. Also ordered some straplocks for it while I was at it...I'll post an update once I get all that taken care of. In the mean time i've sorta hot-wired it so that the active preamp stays on (this prevents the crackling so i'm guessing the old jack failed somewhere with the switching mechanism for the preamp) and I've just been unplugging the battery...it's a pain but at least I can use it without extremely annoying crackling all the time.

There's a couple a few pages back that seem to fit. The Bassculture is a real nice piece of work though, what don't you like about the ATK stock sound exactly? The clicky highs and the slight naselness were what kinda irritated me, but he bassculture sorted it out without totally changing the tone of the bass.
Jamie_funk, I know that strings depend on preference a lot, but I do love flats on a fretless ATK. My brother had (and sold, the fool) an ATK 300FL, and it was an amazing bass. My defretted 90's 300 is not quite as nice, but I'd seriously recommend trying out flats. Despite the "Attack" label, I find I can get a decent upright-type sound out of a fretless ATK with flats.

I'm using Fender flats on my defretted 300, which I got 'cause they were cheap and available at the local store. But they sound great!

O.K. I just played my first gig with my ATK 300 fretless. When I got it, I had to send it in to get the fingerboard planed and have it set up. I had them put TI jazz flats on it. The results are amazing. The TIs made the bass really speak and come alive. They are real mid heavy, but it works with the ATK. I sat in with my friends Afrobeat band and got several compliments on my tone. I wasn't really sure how the fretless would work in that context, but it came off great.
The 750 looks very similar to me as far as I remember, what's the difference between them?
I messed my jack up real bad recently by the way, accidentally broke off one of the crappy jack arms when I was doing some soldering, anyone know what the part number is for the switchcraft jack? Not sure if they have any UK distributors however, I'd rather not get a jack shipped over the Atlantic...

Look on the USA site (has the easiest link to follow) and go to support and then parts or something like that. Make a note and then go to your nearest Ibanez dealer to order them. They take their time unfortunately.
If you don't have a local dealer then there are a couple of euro sites that do Ianez spares, but I can't remember the name of either.

who here strings through the body vs at the bridge?
i just switched mine to through the body-
i timed the sustain on my open e...it was like 40 seconds, at least 25 of which were decently loud. dude.
i did a cursory setup- i moved around the bridge saddles, tuned, just changed strings. i think i should probably get my truss rod adjusted a bit...it feels slightly bowed. not enough to impact my playing, since i play super hard on it anyway. i have all this leftover forearm strength from years of upright playing...
the sound does feel a bit smoothed out to me, and honestly i can't think of a time when i would want to hold a note for that long, but it's still awesome.
so which do you guys use?
