Yeah I got that too, speakers weren't plugged in anyway cos I was testing my new Laneys pre-amp through my crappy practise amp, not doing it alot of justice...

My tuners are starting to get a little nasty too, but my bass never goes out of tune when I'm playing unless I've put new strings on in the last couple of days. My E and G butterfly things are really bent too but they still seem to work really well, for the moment at least...

While I'm here, anyone know of any replacement saddles you can get onto an ATK? I cant help but think they're letting what should be a phenomenal bridge down a little.

The singer is very good. I'd say rhythm needs work. Might be a recording issue, but there's a few off snare hits in there.

GC was blowing one of these out for $299. I thought about getting one but once I sat down with it.... the electronics buzzed like a bumble bee. I went to another store that had one... same thing....

Anyone find a way to overcome this?

Buzzing? Could be a simple thing like an old battery.

I had the same issue. I really started noticing the crispy highs when I was playing in a pit orchestra...so did the director. I find that it's only noticeable if I'm within a few feet of my amp.

Well, my personal favorite for my ATK305 are the SR2000s from Dean Markley. I cant remember what gauge I use, but the feel and tone I get from them (new AND well used) is wonderful!

But seriously, I'm giving my new ATK300 fretless a real workout this weekend. It's at an annual party my friend's parents throw every year at their cabin in the Sierra Nevada foothills, the so-called "Summer Jam." He and his dad both sing and play guitar and have a bunch of musician friends. I am one of the few real bass players who show up every year, so I can play as much as I want. Alot of classic rock, some pop tunes, some country, mostly whatever they want to play. They have a songbood with chord charts, but they hardly ever play songs out of it. I usually don't know half the tunes, so it's a great workout for me. I have to come up with a viable bass line on the spot. But usually by about 9-10pm on Saturday everyone is pretty lubed, so it doesn't really matter...

I'm thinking about getting an ATK305 (when i can afford it) so that i have 1. another ibanez. 2. a 5 string. and 3. a pickguard!
I was wondering, what do they sound like and what are the limitations to customization and style of play?
What are the differences between this bass and say, the way a fender plays?
I noticed the pickup looks a bit... permanent.
Also, where can i buy ATK pickguards? or would i just have to mod the original myself?

just got my atk3ex1 today (scored it for $200 from a GC in texas)absolutly phenominal bass rounds out my tones (i have one passive jazz and one active) incredible bass but i have a question is it dangerous to the bass if you crank the internal gain pot all the way up

That should not be a problem. With the high settings for the eq you sometimes get hiss, depending on your audio chain such as having all kinds of pedals. But there should be no problems cranking the gain of the output.

ATK3EX1 is my main axe (rosewood, hence I got one of those rather than any of the existing ATK300/305 series, not that a 5-string 305 would be tasty...)
