Search for the harmony central reviews and anything to do with "bassculture" and "ATK" on the forums.

I'm starting to think I've wired mine up wrong, having to do alot more EQing then would normally be needed. When I do it sounds awesome, but flat it sounds like - if it was a Fender - the "tone" is turned all the way down. Wouldn't mind too much, but even after the hefty EQing it seems to have a little muddyness left in the low mids and bass.

do these basses generally come setup pretty crappy when they're new but play good once someone sets them up right? I just swapped out my ATK3EX1 for another and it still has a million buzzes in the frets. The tone of the bass is amazing but it needs some help.

I bought the '97 NOS in 2002. It's my favourite bass ever since. Plays like butter! It has a rare birdseye maple top on the headstock. I've installed a Nordstrand MM4.4 and a new switch last year... the switch is now for series/parallel/single coil switching. The Nordstrand sounds way different. I like that...

I used to have a red ATK600 too! Cocobolo fretboard, flamed maple top... that bass was HEAVY. I sold it in favour of a Fender Marcus Miller Signature. :hmm:

They are both MIJ.. I think you're refering to the Amberburst ATK. The serial is: F9721387

If you go back to the newer photo of my black ATK you can see a little cosmetic change. I exchanged the chrome pickguard screws to black ones. Little things like this can really do something for a bass IMHO.

Mine was hella low for a while, decided I hated and wanted it to be more like my fender. Now it's got a pretty high action and plays pretty nice and doesn't buzz. Makes a pretty nice high action bass with the thickish neck.

Just arrived today. Very good overall condition. Great looking finish. HEAVY. If it weren't for some corrosion on the pickguard cover screws and some fretboard wear, I'd say this thing was brand new. I don't really like the strings that came on it, so I'm replacing with some Sadowsky flats to see if it brightens up the tone. Also going to look into getting the fretboard worked on because there is some pretty noticeable wear from a previoius owner using roundwounds on it. I just might get it sealed with some type of epoxy...But anyway, here she is...Can I get a number?

My stock tuners are pretty useless.

I was looking into maybe changing out to Hipshots. Worthwhile investment, or is it possible to soup up the stocks? They're pretty floppy/delapidated. I bought the bass a couple months ago and it was very "as is" condition.

I'd have to measure to see which Hipshots would work.
They're so flippin expensive, though. It would be a decent investment but I saw a Brice six string the other day for 150 bucks on craigs and I keep thinking...5 tuners....or a six string?

Alright here is a clip from my band, the song is in spanish. Please give some feed back to all instruments. The atk 300 is here with the attack setting, all knobs to middle and I used a 2.0mm pick. The bass itself sounded even more beefy and had to be compressed , hehehe :smug:

Mine were loose on my '96 ATK300 - I fixed them by turning the leaf that tensions the post the other way. They're much more firm now, and don't slip at all. Hopefully they'll last another 10 years this way ;)
