The way they combine sounds very attractive. Having two slightly different but complementary voices to use as separates or combine for a bigger sound would seem to cover any situation most players would come across. Color me interested. Did you just stack the SM on top of the BB2 and how were the tweeters set?Pairing an SM with a BB2? I've got some real world experience now to relate. My classic rock cover band played an outdoor gig last night with me using this pair ('66 P-bass > Aguilar DB680 Pre > Crown PowerTech 3). Played same outdoor spot 2 months ago with just the BB2 (same bass > GB Streamliner 900). Best tone I've had in 45 years of playing! Deep yet perfectly full range articulation. SO easy to play. While many variables were different, to my ear the SM seamlessly added a thicker mid-layer to the BB2's deep end. I've ordered a BT2, thinking the schlep of a rolling bigger box will be better than the 2 separate boxes, but now not sure it will improve upon the sound.
Best part: after 1st song the hotel entertainment director (himself a bass player) told me to turn down and the guitar player to turn up. Top 3 bucket list item cross off! YEA BABY!!!

I stacked SM on top of BB2 - both vertical, BB2 horn on 33%, SM off completely. The way they combine sounds very attractive. I'd suggest experimenting.I am curious about this as well:
SM on top on the BB2 vertically, or horizontally? (SM height is about equal to BB2 width, so SM on its side, on top of the vertical BB2, seems logical)
Horns: Only one on? Which one? I'd expect the horn with wave guide on the BB2 would be better than that on the SM without a wave guide, but if the BB2 is on the bottom then the tweeter would be quite low. Or, .... both on?
I've heard that some folks who run two BB2's only run the horn on one, for dispersion reasons.

Thanks. I'm pathologically a creature of habit - painful to change something that REALLY works for me (e.g. restaurant menu selection, choice of pillow, underwear). But I will TRY to experiment with SM/BB2 and report back.I'd suggest experimenting.
If you turn the SM HF all the way down, I don't think it would matter whether you set it on its side or bottom, though esthetically, I'd think on its side.
If you decide you like some of the SM HF, it should be closer to your ear if you set it upright, of course the proof is in the hearing.
I wouldn't assume anything & just let your ears judge.
That does look like a nice horn on the BB2. I think with the SM on its side the two HF drivers might be closer together which might turn out to be a good thing - again, let your ears, not your eyes (or brain) judge.
Just my dos centavos.
Maybe just being content with what I've got![]()

That option, Good Sir, would be eminently logical, rational, and intelligent.......so much so that it might well endanger your TB membership........![]()

So the SM is like type O blood - the universal donor for mix 'n match? Maybe the way it presents the low end and mids makes it a bit of a chameleon. I'd like to hear an SM atop a Retro 210. Perhaps a little tighter low end with a more vintage vibe than the BB2/SM?Gratuitous pic of the most under appreciated Barefaced pairingOne10 fattens up the PA-like Super Midget = BB2+

since the wait to receive it is rather long (looks like it'll be 6+ weeks in total)
I think mine took about 5 weeks, but I'm sure it varies depending on what cab you are having built.Curious - is this about average wait time after putting down your deposit? 6 weeks from deposit to ship? I'm trying to buy one and nobody is getting back to me![]()
