My BB2 arrived today, it has been a surprise (I was not waiting for it)

I tested it quickly in my parent's house, not the best place, waiting for rehearsals and hope even gigs.

First impressions in a "solo" situation:
- very well built. Hardware and finish are professional grade
. light as the wind, even a one hand lift is doable with ease
- first notes...well, I was a little disappointed. The tone was shiny but the mids were a bit "confused" and too prominent, the bass was not as deep as I was expecting.
- pumped some serious bass and wattage trough it for half an hour and it seems that the low end is becoming deeper and the mids more accurate and smoother.
. no chuffing or other turbulence noise from the port, no rattles, the cab is lightweight but does not move on a common floor with a micro head on top
- apparent good quality horn, even if sometimes I hear that nuance that I associate with metal, maybe a paper tweeter would sound a bit warmer.
- no matter how much bass I could throw at it, no boom at all, very clean defined bass
- my impressions, that have to be verified in other moments and comparing the BB2 with other gear, is that the cab has maybe a little less volume than my Bergantino Ae210, but I must check this aspect with fresh ears in a A/B test

The first impression, as a whole, is very good, but I look forward to test it on demanding stages after a proper break in period.

Yeah, Alex talks about these particular drivers needing to go through a break in period before they reach their full potential. If I remember correctly, they travel (piston?) so much they need to stretch out and loosen, like muscles really... except this only needs to happen once... like a car... I'm rambling. Anyway the testing the cabs go through at the factory take care of about half of the required break in. So sratas, you've got a bit to go.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to that. Just taking it into the studio on a regular basis and cranking it! It just needs arrive first...

the weight to output, along with form factor, not to mention the respect that Alex gets here. i've used a 15/6, and i have a F115 on the way. i feel like the 212 format isn't much bigger and heavier, and it gets me into 4ohm territory instead of 8, which is nice for my solid state heads.

I asked Alex Claber if the big baby 2 is capable of:

- true full range response
- reproducing with fidelity and musicality the complex tones coming from my basses and amps, especially in the midrange. never heard trough a cab the burp and growl of my gear before, only a bad and dull copy
- I WANTED TO HEAR THE TONE I HEAR TROUGH STUDIO GRADE REFERENCE HEADPHONES OR USING THE DI, only at gig volume...
- true bass without mud and a more balanced reproduction of the crucial 100-180 Hz range
- highest quality highs without slicing blades

Alex assured me that all these goals were possible with the BB2 cab.

Till now, I had the time to test briefly the cab in less than ideal environment, i will report back again after having used the cab for more than half an hour and having completed the breaking in process.

I am a very demanding musician tonewise, a studio guy who knows frequencies and tone from a discriminative and speculative point of view.
If the cab is or not able to satisfy my trained ears, it will be posted without any filter, in all honesty.
when I pay serious cash and wait a long time for an item, I do not admit honeymoon effect or other fanboy behaviour.

By the way, I've got great hopes for my BB2!!! First test was very promising!!!

I just got my BB2 in last week. Like everyone else I was a little put off by it's initial sound. I remembered the speaker needs to break in and saw the latest post here in this thread. I have VERY high hopes for the BB2. Literally every time I use it now it sounds a little more full. I can't wait for it to be at it's prime!!

I recently recieved a super compact and found it to be very tight,first rehearsal I used my shuttle 9.2 and it seemed to have a hard time,it peaked at what I consider to be a moderate output,not that loud (for 500 watts at 8ohms), I had the gain,volume and master just over half and it required quite a lot of bass EQ to sound full, after a few more plays I have reduced the settings on the amp and the sound is becoming much nicer and louder, I also found this with my super twelve, these speakers need loosening and once loose they are great :)
