What head are you using? If you depend on cab coloration as part of your sound you will want the '69er out of the Barefaced cabs. Which other Barefaced did you hear and not like? The reason why I like my Compact so much is that I get super deep lows without needing PA support in small rooms and in larger rooms the response of the cab is much more similar to the response of the PA. Running a DI from the head, in my case an Orange AD200, gets the sound to both places and the response stays the same. If I was running a cab that had a unique sound I'd be looking at running a mic or mic + DI to the house in order to make sure that the sound was consistent. This was my own personal reasoning for going Barefaced (the extreme portability doesn't hurt though).

mostly I heard what's available in youtube. Compacts in the vast majority but also the old vintage. It indeed sounds transparent, which is not bad dending on what you want.
But what I'm after is a littel bit of dirt. I'm currently using an Aggie DB750 but I will hopefully switch to an all tube head in the coming months. Indeed portability is a great plus, but it needs to sound the way I want it to accept it.

Hearign that is more like an 8x10 is for instance a comforting feedback!

I haven't actually heard the 69er—as you know these are rare beasts. As you may also be aware, the Orange AD200 is geared up more for dirt, but I actually find that running a pedal or two in front makes that edge-of-grind tone far more controllable at a wider array of volume levels. I'd venture to guess you may be able to get very acceptable results with your Aggie by trying the same. I run a Radial boost and Fulltone Bassdrive 2 mosfet with very low gain settings to achieve my tone. In fact, it doesn't sound like drive with the rest of the band playing and without me digging in like a champ.

I will, but it may be a while until I can actually push this rig, to be honest. Most gigs I play I only need a stage monitor, so a single cab does the job. In fact, I often use a small MarkBass combo for that reason...
I think the first gig already booked that I'll need this rig for will be Friday 2nd of May... anything prior to that will probably be done with a smaller rig. I'll start taking the BB2 alone with an LMIII head as a "bigger MB solution", so that I can get a feel for it and start breaking it in... But I really really want to push this thing... :)

The Super Twin looks like a serious beast! I was really tempted but decided to keep it simple and easy to move about and just add a simple cab to my existing Compact... However, knowing what one of these newer 12" speakers can do (I was able to try somebody else's BB2 before I got mine), I love the idea of two of them in a larger cab...

a little update.
My BB2 is starting to grow up on me seriously.
We had some initial difficulties falling in love, but now the spark is lit...

At the beginning, I had to restart to rebuild my tone almost entirely, maybe due to the fact that I never owned such a clear cab before.

first advice is to concentrate on technique and the right instrument first. when you and your bass-amp sound exactly as you like, the BB2 will have no difficulties in translating your tone into actual music.

My bass always pleased me until the BB2. Since the purchase I worked on it changing strings, doing a new setup etc Now I've got a tone that is very very similar to the recorded one, just at high volume. What I wanted, but so difficult to obtain.

I've always liked tweetered cabs and always used the extended spectrum of two way cabs.
The BB2 sounds very good with the horn on, but it's the first cab that sounds awesome with the horn off, IME. The tone does change, but it doesn't darken as we are used with others. It remains very open sounding, clear, I will say transparent.

I prefer to consider the rear knob a true character knob, and not a HF control per se.
It does change the cab behaviour, the personality, but the tone stays clear even with the control completely off, awesome.

Total OMG moment: I just got a mail that my Super Twin will be shipped today! No clue when it will arrive - I have no experience with deliveries from the UK to Belgium for parcels this size.

I assume it will not be this afternoon, since it just got delivered to the parcel service today. Also kind of hoping it will not, because Friday is just about the only day when nobody's home :)

But I am psyched! Pics will follow as soon as I get it :)

First gig with the BB2 last night, just the BB2 and the GB Shuttle 9.2 in this occasion.

This was playing at a venue I played many times before that is notoriously hard to get a good sound on stage, too boomy, and there is a lot of echo (although that does get better as people come in, and last night it was packed). I have played there using my old RH450 + RS210, and the Markbass CMD121P (on the floor, tilted, and on a box away from the floor). Last night it was the BB2 on an Auralex Gramma pad (essentially a board with some foam to mechanically isolate the cab from the stage floor, which helps)...
Always using a Stingray.
It was very easy to get a clear sound, with girth but clear and with definition. I loved it.
I think if you have to describe this cab with one word, it is "clear".

If it's already nice, I can't wait to hear what it sounds like once it's broken in a bit.

I'm very pleased. I had already had a test on somebody elses BB2, which gave me hopes that I would really like it... but now I own one that I can actually use in-situ... I'm happy to have gone for this cab.

I'm glad to hear that you've had the same great experience that I've had with my BB2. It is a really wonderful speaker. I continue to be amazed at how it can sound so good for both double bass and bass guitar. Have you had a chance to pair it with my old Schroeder Mini 10 yet? It was certainly a wonderful combination in my front hall.

Trying your BB2 was great, although it made the wait harder! :)
It's going to take me a while to figure this cab out, but it's already very promising.
I left the horn at about halfway, I didn't really experiment with it. Even with it off there is a good amount of top end, for my taste.

No, I haven't paired it with the mini10R. So far it's been the BB2 alone, and a brief test at home with the Compact (huge).

The mini10R has worked beautifully as an extension to my Markbass combo though, the CMD121P.

I am quitting the band I used to rehearse with on Mondays, just too busy, so you will definitely see me at the Jazz Bar soon :)

My Super Twin arrived today!!! It is gorgeous, to say the least. And the weight, oh the weight ... I feel like I could lift it with my pinky finger :o

Played a bit with it just now, and first impression? The clarity is everything you read about, yet it sounds so much better than I ever dared hope for! On the other hand, I hear every mistake I make :D

It really makes my trusty old Behringer head (yeah yeah, sue me) come to life. My electric upright never sounded better! Which is good cos I have an "upright only" gig next week :)

Once I break it in, I am sure I will be even more enamored with it!
