Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Alright folks, I'm really torn. My super midget just sold (quickly as I suspected it would) and I can't decide between the TWO10 and the Big Baby. The midget was great, I just need a little more bottom to be able to double on all my gigs. I miss the sound of good 10's but I don't want to lose out on too much low end. Anyone have any sage words of wisdom?

The BB2 is a loud beast, with tons of bottom end if you want it. But I prefer the Two10. It still has plenty of lows if you want them, but the bottom end is tighter and in general it just seems like you can't make them sound bad. The BB2 is a great cab, but it's a lot more transparent and you need to work with your sound a bit more, in my personal experience. The Two10 suits me much better. I went from 2x BB2 to 2x Two10 and a year later I am still in love with these cabs.

Awesome, thanks for the response! I ordered the TWO10 last night. Very excited!

I hope it works for you! Personal taste is what it is... neither of your two choices is a 'bad' choice, but I know I'm happier with the Two10s... however if I was forced to play a couple of BB2 for the rest of my life, well, I can imagine of many things worse than that ;)

One thing with the Two10 and their bottom end is that vertically (port aiming to the floor) or horizontally (port aiming to the side) makes a big difference. So experiment :)

Finally had a gig big enough to bring out both of my Two 10 cabs. I honestly think that 1 would have been enough, but they sure did sound great.

I love my little One10 and am always amazed by how much sound it puts out. Good sound. Would be fun to hear what a pair of Two10s could do! drool

Anyone ever compare a Barefaced Four10 to a Super Twin? What was different between them in terms of tone and volume? Just curious...

Not side by side, and not an exact comparison, as I had 2x BB2 and now 2x Two10... But they must be in the ballpark (to a SuperTwin and a 410). I have the feeling the 2xBB2 could get louder and bigger sounding... but the 2x Two10 are not exactly shy animals, so I don't feel I'm lacking. Tonally the BB2 pair was cleaner/more transparent with a bigger bottom end (which I often found myself having to tame), but the 'colour' of the pair of Two10s is more pleasing to my ears... I guess the BB2/SuperTwin are more of a blank canvas and you need to make sure you bring the colours you want, while the Two10 pair has a nice background shade (for my taste) onto which I merely add a few touches and it always looks nice. The Two10's bottom end is tighter, but still have lots, and that suited me well. It doesn't get boomy easily and there's a very nice low midrange and I find myself barely tweaking my amps to get a really good, fat, with good definition, kind of sound. The Two10s have plenty of top end too. I thought they'd be a bit too dark and 'old school' but not at all. If you want bright, they can do bright but it doesn't get brittle. Uff, hard to describe!
