I'm not really a tweeter guy myself but I like a bit of snap, I usually turn the the tweeter off or way down. I have a Super Compact, and it wasn't until last week when I was able to compare it to my other cabs side by side that I realized just how dark it actually was. I really missed the tweeter. I also saw a video comparing various Barefaced cabs and I also didn't realize how much more snap the 10's had over the tweeterless 12's.

Long story short....my next BF cab will be a Super Midget which should pair nicely with the SC.

You'll get plenty of high end extension for most bass playing applications. I had a SC, and I never felt it lacked as a bass cab. I only moved to a BB2 (pair of them) to use for a PA. If I wasn't using a cab sim, I'd certainly dial down the high-driver.

I was the same regarding the tweeter, than I realised I'd hardly been using the tweeter in my old 2x10, it was set to 25% so I figured I'd be fine -- took a few hours to break 'er in and my only pet peeve is the actual cab size is a bit small, purely for aesthetics!

I've got a big twin with a broken tweeter and I don't miss it. Took me a while to even realize it was broken.

Hi Mark, yes that will be the one. First reaction is that it is lighter than my Four 10 so will be good for band practices. I think I prefer the character of the tens overall though, they are more forgiving of my technique. I have been able to dial in a decent tone with the Subway 800+, but interestingly I found it really combined nicely with the Ampeg V4B, less so with the Orange AD200. Haven't tried it with Aguilar 751 yet but I think it will be my go to light rig with the 800+. I have never had much use for tweeters but this one is, as they say. nicely integrated. Proof of the pudding will come next gig in a band situation.

Why? Bass gear (or any gear) is ridiculously expensive, and many, many small or boutique brands are just not available here. Example: I have been hankering for a Peavey Cirrus 5 for many years. One finally came up for sale a few months ago so I jumped on it. In the USA I could have got one any day of the week.
Sorry... back to Barefaced!

All my gear would come with me! I was down there for a festival in October and really loved it. It's a beautiful country you've got.

I am also not a big fan of tweeters and in the past turned them down or off if possible. I got my Super Twin first and for a second cabinet chose a BBII. I though having one tweeter was more than enough and would give some air plus the BBII has a little more low-end extension than the Super Twin. Individually they each are great but combined really kick butt. At my gig the other night I was playing my new Alembic Series II bass. I send a flat signal to FOH through an Avalon U5. It has a switch to kill all the frequencies about 6k which I usually leave engaged. At first I thought my bass sounded really dull, changed the setting on the U5 to let through all the high frequencies and I was surprised at how much better my bass sounded. I set the low-pass filters on both bass pickups to cut off a lot of the highs available and didn't think there was much going on in the upper frequencies but I was wrong. The tweeter in the Barefaced cabs is much nicer sounding than most tweeters, on a loud gig it helps me hear a little better so I am glad to have it but I still don't need one in both cabinets.

The tweeterless Barefaced 12s sound pretty dark and muffled(think carpet over speaker) there are alot of cabs which are brighter with tweeters turned off, from what I owned: rumble 2x10 and mesa subway 12+15 are brighter. I also found the barefaced 10s too closed sounding even though they extend somewhat more

Interesting observation. I felt my SC was a little congested when I first got it, but it opened up, particularly as I got my EQ sorted. I didn't like it with a Monique pre, which I couldn't EQ enough.

I found the 10" design to be darker, not extending as high. Not in a bad way, just not as bright relatively.

I wouldn't be surprised that Mesa stuff is a little brighter. I've owned their PH cabs (115 & 212) but not the ones you mentioned. It's also been a few years.

Just goes to show that there's no Goldilocks cab for everyone.

Running the tweeter open means that some frequencies will be sent to tweeter rather than the woofer. It's a crossover system in them. Closing the tweeter does not mean cutting any frequency but rather sending them to the woofer.

Exactly, sorry for my poor description. I understand the basics behind this crossover thing, but I'm not an expert.
In my experience, a typical bass woofer doesn't make all the treble pass, it's definitely darker compared to what I hear from a tweeter. So, closing the tweeter results in a darker tone. That's what I was trying to say.

Really not my experience at all - I have a fairly growly bass and have not had to push the highs at all.
If anything I would bump the lows on a bigger stage if we ever play one!
