I agree about bumping the bass, the cabs have plenty of high mids and growl as you state, they are not dark sounding in those frequencies, I just miss alot of air with theses cabs, they seem very flat and bland sounding, and yes I also had too eq it alot to get a decent sound, bass boost + hi pass and some scooping. However for those who want a PA monitor type of sound I understand the appeal.

I agree about bumping the bass, the cabs have plenty of high mids and growl as you state, they are not dark sounding in those frequencies, I just miss alot of air with theses cabs, they seem very flat and bland sounding, and yes I also had too eq it alot to get a decent sound, bass boost + hi pass and some scooping. However for those who want a PA monitor type of sound I understand the appeal.
Again, bland is not a word I'd use to describe. My ST is incredibly articulate and fills a room no problem.
Initially I was messing around with the EQ, but once the speakers were broken in I was able to go back to a flat setting on my Trace V4 (bass & treble at noon, mids at 1pm). I have a BDI in my signal chain which I've actually dialled down the treble on a tad to around 11.
I do feel I miss the punch of the 2x10/15 stack I had previously. I've never used 12's before this so don't know if that's a cab thing or a 12's thing or probably the bass itself.
Certainly sounds like the cab isn't for you, or perhaps your bass/amp aren't suited to the cab to get your sound (which is essentially my experience with everything Ashdown).
I'm also an ST owner and i wouldn't describe it at all like a "wet blanket". My previous Ashdown cabs were and i found it quite a change going to the Barefaced.
I know what you mean about missing the punch...i think the BF 12"s are just so much flatter than a lot of other cabs, at least that's my theory, so you have to boost the low mids to get the same tone your used to...unless you like a clean "PA like" tone. However i don't miss the weight in the slightest and never have problems being heard at any gig so far (usually get told to turn down now)
I'd say the 12"s put out exactly what you put into them...even without the tweeters

+1 on the weight - I was carting 1 or 2 Trace cabs plus a valve amp. Now just the amp and the ST

SuperTwin is ordered! Now, the wait for low weight. Very curious to see how it performs against my DB212. If it does what I hope, I won't be carrying that 70lb beast anymore. I do like that cab a lot. It's just that the BF bug has bitten and the poison tastes good from the little bit I heard of a SC
using a TH500 currently. Been bypassing the pre with a Noble very often, but may start going in the front to use the mid controls of the TH
i had a db112 once and i thought it was the most choked, nasally sounding cab ever. i actually sold it to someone in the venue after playing a gig. i bet you'll be very happy!

I can't wait. I honestly would have been fine with a SC for the majority of my gigs but the ST will cover everything AND weighs the same as a single DB112. And it has casters! It's quite possible that I will have an Aguilar sale happening in the future...
If you like thick and chewy you will like the ST. It takes EQ and pedals very well. I have lower-volume gigs to which I feel kind of silly bringing it, but it's still only 40 lbs and it sounds pretty much the same at any volume.

I don't miss the tweeter at all and actually am glad it ain't there, the super twin is a great box in my opinion - just did a fortyfive gig tour in fortyfive days tour w/it plus a super compact (3x12 total!) and they kicked up MUCH dust w/not one ever fail - watt tested! by the way, the super compact doesn't have a tweeter either... am digging that - thank you good people at barefaced!

If it was me I would just order it and not be concerned, but then I have drunk from the golden chalice of Barefaced and am forever spoiled
. Sounds like he is going ahead anyway, still raises the question of the impact of big discounts. And 20% is pretty big for such a great product. On another matter, and since I am sitting here in 32 degrees of heat with nothing else to do, has anyone compared a BB2 with the horn at minimum to a Super Compact? Since the horn "attenuator" works by changing crossover frequency I wonder what aural impact it actually has when dialed to the highest crossover point since it is still receiving information - albeit at a higher frequency. Tempted to get a Super Compact to augment my BB2 and increase the Barefaced family. Seriously considering getting rid of my Bergantino NV215 and Fender neo 810 cabs, they just don't get any use these days. The Barefaced Four 10 + Two 10 combination with its options will do everything I need, as a Six 10 unit with my Aguilar DB751 it is absolutely awesome. Played an outdoor festival a couple of weeks ago and the sound guy asked me to turn down so that he could put more bass through the P.A. - it didn't sound overbearing on stage but the throw of that rig is huge

Yeah Tim, Barefaced cabs have a lot of throw. I set my rig up and always have to turn down when I go walkabout in the audience with my wireless. Louder out there than on stage.
