Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Hi folks, I'm right on the edge of ordering a barefaced cab, looking for opinions before I pull the trigger. I've contacted Alex and got his thoughts, which were the same as I was thinking myself.(I won't spoil
it by saying what that was yet!) I'm currently using a TC BH800 amp through 2 Markbass traveller 2x10 cabs (8ohm each), but they don't seem to take much lows before they threaten to fart, and the lows aren't terribly solid either. My most common gig is with a Bon Scott-era AC/DC tribute act, but also play in jam sessions which are mostly blues and classic rock. Most gigs are in pubs or smaller clubs, but occasionally on bigger stages. (Usually with pa support) My gear is also occasionally used by other players at local festivals too, so needs to be at least a bit versatile. I guess my priorities are a loud, fat, and solid sound. I don't really play much slap, but it would be good if it would do that passably. So...what's your thoughts - Two10s or super compact? I'd be looking at one cab just now and probably adding a second when funds allow.
Cheers!

I haven't played the SC, I have had/currently have some berg 12" cabs that filled the light/loud 12" niche.

I do have a two10 and I really like that cab. Mine is an older non-S 4 ohm only cab with the 400 watt rating. From what I gather (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the newer cabs use the same speaker but they upped the power rating a bit? I generally run it clean with a EA doubler II (625 watts at 4 ohms) for DB gigs, dirty with a number of tube amps for EB gigs. The two10 has never complained or sounded bad and kicks out some serious volume for the size and weight. The broadband sensitivity is only given at 98db, which surprises the heck out of me.

That said, I do generally try to monitor output levels with the lower rated cab/higher rated amp and keep the sound pretty clean with this combination. If you're running 800 watts at 4 ohms into a single two10 and running any kind of drive/distortion I would be concerned with power handling. They do say up to 800 watt handling with fairly clean sounds, so maybe you'd be okay.

Thanks for the input folks. Just to throw it into the mix, it was the Two10s that Alex recommended, adding a second one if more volume was needed. Out of interest BigEarl, what were you unhappy about with the 10's?
I just didn't like the color they naturally added to my sound. I guess if I was more into a heavier sound, maybe some grit, then they would have been perfect. The 12" is reeeeeally clean and I can add anything I want to the signal chain and it will meet my audio expectations exactly. Up until I discovered the BF 12" cabs I would NEVER use effects because the effect would usually get lost, I now have TWO pedalboards! And all the expense that entails! LOL!

This will come as an entirely unhelpful remark but you cannot go wrong in my opinion with 10's or 12's. I have an assortment-- SC, BB2, One10, Two10s, Four10-- and find all good-- I pull one or the other depending on gig, volume, and so on. If you like a more traditional bass vibe, Two10s is beautiful (and I also love it b/c I can use it with the Four10 to make a Six10). If you want sizzle or modern sound, then 12's. I think overall the 10's are most pleasing and smooth but there are times when I want the cut and clarity of the 12'a-- SC or BB2. I must say monsterthompson is a great source for getting impressions, he's had an assortment of Barefaced too. One10 is a GREAT little cab but I don't take it to gigs unless it's coffee house or acoustic in a small space. But-- I Love playing through it, its always set up in my den. Often I take the SC to "typical" gigs which aren't super loud, the output-to-weight ratio is outstanding in that cab.

Good evening all and Happy New Year!

This is my first post and I have unofficially joined the Bareface club. I spent the last week or so reading ALL 507 pages of this monster thread and feel like I know all the regulars and certainly know a lot about the Bareface bass cab's.
After I read a lot of this thread, watched some of Alex's and others video's, I decided on the Six10. I've been thinking about an SVT or some other 8-10, but after some research, I thought the Six10 is more practical.
Probably more than I need, but hey, you only live once and I am a firm believer in overkill! I can always turn down. I'll probably end up getting a smaller Bareface anyway.
I ordered at week ago and look forward to putting my little Milkman Half & Half 700 on top of that Six10!
I'll be sure to let you know when it shows up~
Thanks for all the help....and you didn't even know it! :)

Welcome to the TB forum, Mark, and specifically, to the Barefaced Cab family. I have no doubt that you will dig your new 6 ten cab with that sweet little Milkman 700 head. I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts after it arrives. Happy waiting : )

I ordered the one 10, I fully understand the UK is on lockdown being from Liverpool, I was just asking if anyone on here had information, I am not the kind of person to email until say 30 days have gone by
I can tell you this, Barefaced shipped my SuperTwin on a Thursday afternoon and it was on my doorstep on Saturday.(UPS) I am sure it will be worth the wait.

Day-um, Son! Six10!?! Talk about jumping into the BF puddle with both feet! I'm jealous, if I were going for the sound of the 10's the Six10 would be my choice as well. Congrats!

Looking forward to it BIG time.

I just hope our brothers & sisters at the mothership in the UK are ok, healthy and able to build these things.
Sounds like it's getting bad over there. :meh:

I hadn't heard of Milkman until I saw your post so I had to go check it out. That's a cool little amp! It looks like the kind of amp that will probably sound great with a Barefaced 10 - and even better with six of them. :D
