Yes, I've been to the website, many times. If it talks about a tweeter in something besides the SM, it's hard to find (for me at least).

"mid/high waveguide compression driver" (as featured in the two cabs of the "Big" line, as well as in the active PA speaker) = tweeter, roughly speaking - one that extends down to lower-high/upper-mids regions in this case.

Hi, Dee-man,

I think the reason you probably aren't getting responses to this question is that those who purchased the Super Compact or Super Twin don't want tweeters--or they would have gone with one of the Barefaced cabs that have them.

The fact that Barefaced has a line of cabs without tweeters is one of the things that attracted me to the brand in the first place. While I know I can always switch off a cabinet's tweeter/horn, I:

1) Don't like paying for something I don't want in the first place.

2) Don't want to have to carry around the additional (though admittedly small) amount of weight added by something I'm not going to to use.

3) Feel that cabinets with tweeters/horns are designed to have the high frequency driver used--so I'd prefer a cabinet that is designed/voiced for the way I intend to use it.

Thanks Latitude. I guess my question was poorly set-up so as to solicit non-responses. I prefer the form factor of the Super Twin but would like the flexibility of a mid and/or tweeter, which puts me into bigger/heavier/more expensive boxes.

Maybe the better way to ask my question is this (though maybe not) - does anyone who has a Gen 3 Big Baby or Big Twin find they don't use the mid/high driver (or don't use it much)? If so, what style of music do you keep it on for?

I have two BB2 and I can confirm that even with the HF turned fully down, there is some nice amount of hi end, something the RetroSix did not do for me.
That is why the BB2 is THE cab for me (on its own or even better in a pair).
I am using a clean Markbass TA503 or sometimes an ABM500 by Ashdown.

I play semi acoutic singer/songwriter stuff (1 cab), AC/DC type finger style, overdriven pick style with my two original bands, and rock/funk/funpunk with my former cover band (2 cabs)

Supertwin user here. Let me say I don't miss having a tweeter, as the cab isn't inherently "dark" sounding to begin with, the range (from low to high) is remarkable.

This from a 80/20 percent fingers style player, rock music.

Hello friends! Yesterday Arrived my barefaced Compac. It's just incredible. I love it. I have ordered another barefaced Compac to cover all the needs of noisy concerts.
Now I'm looking for a good Bass head and I had thought of a Walkabout head.
Actually I am owner of a Ampeg Portabass.
Anyone use a walkabout with barefaced?. All opinions and advice are welcome.

The Walkabout sounds GREAT with any cab at all Problem might be your volume/loudness requirements. After all it is 'only' 300 watts into 4 ohms or approx. 150watts into 8 ohms.

Why wouldn't it be 8 ohms? And here's a suggestion... why not make it like Hartke Hydrive 112 -- switchable 4 or 8ohms?

The 12 ohm version is because stacking three Two10s with that impedance gives you a modular version of the Six10 (with the same 4 ohm impedance).

As far as I know, switchable impedance can be done two ways - either by rewiring a cab from series to parallel or vice versa or by having a speaker with multiple voice coils. So you could have two 8 ohm coils and only use one for 8 ohm mode and use two in parallel for 4 ohm mode. Or two 4 ohm coils and use one for 4 ohm mode and two in series for 8 ohm. Or a 4 ohm coil and an 8 ohm coil. But you can see that you'll always have at least one mode where the speaker is moving a non-working coil back and forth, and that extra moving mass costs about as much efficiency as you'd gain from doubling the power going from 8 ohm to 4 ohm.

The coil doesn't look like a big part of the speaker but all the other bits are very light whilst the coil is a pretty hefty coil of wire, so having an extra one you're not always using is a big deal. There's a load of other issues too but it gets very complicated!
