Ok, so my first gig is over and I'm a happy man.

First off the negatives. On stage it's a nice tone, but out front im struggling with the wooden stage. Nice low end that can be felt but not quite heard cleary. Low mids were also getting lost BUT It's the room/stage, not the rig, and it's always been a struggle here.
This gig could have done with the 1212L to get a bit more note definition. I normally use a Gramma pad with my 1212L, all the time, but I've not used it with the BB2 yet. Maybe I need to give it a go. Still, not a criticism of the cab at all, from what I heard at rehearsals I know the cab is capable of more and the overal tone was miles better than with the 1212L.

Positives. The volume was fine. I'm actually lower than I normally am on the master so that's a relief. its amazing how loud that cab sounded. Even tough it was on a tall (4ft+) high stage I could feel the low notes on the dance floor.
I didn't really mess with the EQ much, as I liked what I heard when standing close up with most things flat. If anything I had the low knob backed off a bit, something I've never had to do with this head. That's nice to know, I'm not going to be lacking in the low end.

So bottom line tonight, first gig with my BB2, it's a keeper.
Not the ideal gig, but this gig never has been a good one and I wasn't expecting much. The main worry about going from a 4ohm 1212L to the BB2 seemed like a non issue as far as volume goes. I'm still going to give the new head a go but I have a feeling that's going to be overkill for my gigs. Volume aside though the head seems more versatile, on paper, than my F1 anyway, and I'm pretty sure I would never even come close to pushing it hard.
If I get more larger gigs in then maybe I'll upgrade to one of the 2 x12 cabs (wouldnt really have room for two BB2's), but for now the BB2 is going to be all I need.

The 1212L can finally be put in to retirement now, I be found its replacement.

Like you, I had the horn fully on when I forts got me BB2, and still do sometimes, but I found backing the horn off to about 12o'clock and boosting the treble on the amp seemed to beef the mids up a bit...worth a try, but it is room dependant

Please keep in mind that the cab response will change after some use. I noticed a cleaner reproduction of lowest notes and a better warmer midrange. I usually keep the horn full on, but it's only a matter of preference or habit, i could easily find awesome tones turning it off. It's such a great concept of a cab, it does sound properly good no matter how I set it and I found the horn to be very musical sounding. At first, I tought the horn was a bit polite, but it's only so integrated with the woofer that sounds fine even cranked and when it does explode at higher volumes, it's forceful but without peaky slicing tones.

I find I like pushing the highs on my SC. It's an upper mid effect more than a shimmer. It adds presence but doesn't get spikey.

spending the morning jamming through my SM. I've got NI Maschine running a loop going into the aux on my Genz Shuttle 9.0, and my Spector going in the front end. i'm a fortunate and happy gent.

for giggles, i ran the SM and SC together with the Machine loop from my laptop. it's not quite as nice as my NAD stereo system, but it is very nice. it is also loud as hell. i can't push it much in the apartment. nor do my ears want me to.

i opted for using a R.adiation O.bstruction G.adget over a S.O.C.K.

I'd say flipped on the side, with the port visible, and a rag inserted, it is a nice tone. I couldn't quite notice/identify/describe the difference with the rag in/out at first and wondered if i was "trying" to hear a change, but playing along to a few tracks confirmed that things were, in fact, different. I like the rag (hold the chloroform).

Seems like those two would offer a lot of possibilities as far as the sound you can get (esp. w/a low impedance-capable amp)!

...or a BB2 & Super Compact if you don't want to go below 4 Ohm (& don't want to kill small animals with 3xMaxi-12's)!

Monster, I'm surprised that you didn't notice a big difference in low end and feel with the port plugged. Set the cab in the middle of the room and walk around the room, you should notice a difference. Usually a sealed cab will be more consistent from left to right in front of the cab. With ported, I can always hear/feel more anomalies, probably due to more lows. I think that's why I ALWAYS get a better live tone with sealed cabs.

I think my favorite thing about the One10 is that, for practice, it pumps and kicks at the right frequencies for me to hear and feel the sound, even at low volumes. I find myself picking with a more relaxed attack and still getting a "forward" enough sound. It's been very helpful with some hand and wrist pain/position issues. I don't find myself digging in to get aggressive attack.

It was a decent sized rag, and more than a sock, so it has me wondering how big Alex's feet are that he would've suggested a sock in the first place.
