Anyone here have an XB75 ?? I might be going for it. Since, the XB has physically the same dimenions as the LB series basses, I was wondering if it'd be hard to switch from a 34" scale length 5 stringer to a 35 1/4" scale bass? Anyone here done that ?

I bought an LB75 first, then an XB75. No problems switching back and forth. I like the neck profile on the XB better, and it seems so have more sustain. The XB is also much better for slap imo.

Well I pulled the trigger on another one, an AC50 this time. Placed the order while visiting the factory store on Thursday. Build time will be 10 weeks.

Sounds very sweet! It's probably good that I don't live anywhere near the store/factory. I'd have to sell my kidneys. I love my LB75. I'm not sure why, other than this thread, Carvin doesn't seem to get a lot of love around these parts.

I would love to be able to hear that AC50. It looks like you made some really nice aesthetic choices. It should be beautiful. Congrats!

A little Carvin eye candy - My Carvin 1987 Solid Koa LB60 Stereo

Serial Number: 16862, Neck-Through Construction with Ebony Fretboard

I ordered this one brand new 26 years ago in late '86. It served me well as my first choice instrument for a variety of applications. It has a fine temperament with even dynamics and deep harmonics. The neck is stable with superb relief. The instrument holds pitch long-term very well. The truss rod adjusts freely. Strings are D'Addario Chrome Flats. Tone is warm, even, full and punchy. Intervals sound clear and well defined and the intonation is lovely, balancing well with acoustic or electronic accompaniment.

34" Scale, solid neck-through construction entirely in gorgeous Koa wood. Neck is 1 9/16 wide at the nut and 2 3/16 wide at the heel. The Ebony fretboard is smooth and fast and has nice even dark color with no cracks or separations from the neck.

I've always been a Carvin fan. This one, however, may be soon going to a friend who also appreciates them well. Can't keep everything forever.... :(

A friend of mine (who doesn't frequent this site) had his car broken into and bass stolen in the Colorado Springs area 2 weeks ago. He lives right outside of town in Falcon, goes by 'Lucky', and is well known in the CS area. As he's a very private person - feel free to PM me or post here, and information will be transferred to he and the local law enforcement authorities. This is a very distinct looking 2005 Carvin LB75 (5-string) he bought new and has the Carvin chip embedded in it (for whatever that is worth). Friends are assisting with funds for a newly ordered instrument, as he's currently only working part time. Everyone can appreciate the impact of the loss of one's only bass, I trust, and any help would be more than appreciated PLUS rewarded. Thanks in advance...Whitey
