I would think this might be the same with the Hipshot bridges. I guess what I'm not certain of is that if the asymetrical neck option is the same as the wide neck option found on the BB bass.

I finally got my XB75P in after 8 weeks of waiting. Fit and finish are incredible. This is my first bass with active electronics and I am trying to figure out all of the knobs. There is a toggle switch that I think will switch the bridge humbucker to a single coil but that is just a guess. Does anyone know what and how all these knobs interact? In passive mode it seems like the tone controls don't have any effect on the tone, is this normal?

Yes, it is normal for the Carvins as the tone controls are all active. To adjust tone in passive mode, you need to use the blend knob and other means at your disposal.

I believe the tone controls on the bottom are bass, treble and mid in that order. Then the upper two knobs are volume and pickup pan. The switch is, in fact, a coil tap. On this preamp, there is no tone control in passive mode. You'll have to reach over to your amp for EQ.

The color of your bass is great. Is that the new copper color?

I have two of the original design Carvin B5 models with the master volume, pickup-pan, bass, mid and treble control layout.

One has an HB5 (MM style) bridge humbucker and a J99A single coil.

The other has dual H50S ceramic stacked humbuckers which are the predecessor to the newer H50A alnico stacked humbuckers.

I love my Carvin B5 basses!
