Awesome! This whole process was very interesting for me, and waiting wasn't hard like I expected.
Ordered a second Carvin B40 about two weeks ago. Relatively similar to my current B40, but this one with a rosewood fingerboard, low-wide frets and one piece ash body. Same Cherry Sunburst satin finish, same J99A pickups.
I have to tell ya'.....my B40 is a wonderful bass.
I received mine in June. Something interesting happens with my Carvins. Don't really know how to decribe it. But it's sort of like a good loaf of homemade bread, they settle in or the wood settles in or something. Same thing happened with my Carvin SH60 six string guitar.
After four months my B40 is just so smooth to play and the body wood just seems to get more tuneful (not interested in a debate about tonewoods and their contribution to tone, thank you
) or something. Hard to decribe. It's as if it was baked and now settled or stabilized. It's toasty warm now.
Maybe it's the Satin finish? I haven't had that same feel from my gloss P-basses. I have no idea if the finish makes a difference, but something happened with these Carvins.
