How do you record using your carvin? Do you run direct, Mic your cab, or something else? I am in the studio with my carvin for the first time and have some time to experiment and am hoping to get a few ideas to try for a different tone, sound. Any suggestions welcome!

I like going direct myself. Not always the perfect sound but it does sound like me and it's very easy.
So here's my newer Icon. Love it. Felt like my bass the moment I picked it up. Have the j99's and they do sound very good. Though I will likely change the pre the first moment I have the cash. This is the first fiver that passed my one month break out my favorite five and see if I still like my new bass better test.
Thanks aproudq1, I am curious as to what it will sound like running direct. I have been fishing my tracks then I will get a chance to fool around, prob tomorrow.

That Koa is truly gorgeous. First time, in a long time, that I'm even close to jealous.
Flock at Carvin San Diego, did a crazy good job, hand picking the Flame Koa, but not charging me for the service, and in total just really going out of his way to get this done. He is so jazzed about music, musical instruments, and just generally life itself. And, believe it or not, also carves Tiki statues. Yes. He does. Anyway I love this bass. One day I'll be able to play half as awesome as it looks.

Hi everyone, i just wanted to share my excitement as i just finished placing an order for my first Carvin bass. I've been casually in the market to get a fretless bass for the last month or so and have checked around, but nothing jumped at me. Someone suggested Carvin. Never thought about them before but when i went to the site and realized they build to taste and then looked at the prices and quality, i was like, YES. My mission is complete. I have always wanted a quilt maple tiger eye finish for a bass but always thought that was out of my league to get a custom bass done, i now in about 7 weeks or so will be playing something customized and options picked by me. I chose the Icon, classy yet modern shape. Sorry, couldn't contain my excitement so must share!

Congratulations on going Carvin! Did you order completely off the site or did you work with some one?
I initially worked with the "builder" on the website, then chatted with a fellow named Kevin, who steered me in the right direction with a few questions i had. Being a fretless player himself, he offered some suggestions that were great. I really feel confident with the purchase. Now just have to wait 7 weeks....
