Just wondering why some SR's and Sterlings have the figured maple necks and others don't? Was it only certain years or something?
E.B. said it was based on availability of the wood. Much less now than in the '90s.
So a few weeks back, I landed a fretless Stingray 5.
Bass is alder body, a dark wine/burgundy color with bird's eye maple neck/head and pao ferro fretboard with inlay. Really beautiful instrument in amazing shape for its age. Found out from E.B. it was made in Oct. of 1993 and shipped to Manny's Music in NYC. (pretty nice start!).
Anyway, I got it for a steal off ebay, cleaned it up with a bunch of elbow grease and replaced the pickguard. Everything else is original...just cleaner. I did buy a new Musicman case for it (came without).
Have a peek!
Cheers!
Wow thaats my basses twin brother. Well not really, its about 6 months younger, but trans red, alder, lined fretless. Thats one sweet bass eh!
