I don't have any trouble popping with an HS, since they have plenty of room between the fretboard and the pup. You should look into them, but if you alter your popping technique a bit, I'm sure you can get comfortable popping with the HH.
I keep my HH SR5 strung with EBMM Group III Flats, so I never really slap/pop on it. Let us know if you find an HS to try out!

I had read a lot of times about the SR 5 having a neck that was too chunky, and I didn't think a single pickup would be versatile enough. Wrong and wrong. This baby feels and sounds GREAT!
I dont think Ive ever heard the SR5 neck being called chunky, I think its quite slim. Oh well.

I think that's one of the best looking SR5's I've seen. The natural finish really brings out those bevelled edges.

It's a 1990 SR5 with the alnico pickups and glossy neck. IIRC it is kind of like honey burst, but before honey burst's time and a little different. It is in fact bad ass, I know that.
