Big singles are amazing; my CallowHill has Big Splits and they are great, too. I don't think Rob will ever offer Nordstrands as an option, because of his dealing with Larry at Aero. However Rob, might put Nordstrands in one of his basses if the buyer were to supply them.

Meh, lots of TBers tend to be on a quest for a bass that doesn't quite exist until they realize it was the one they sold 3-4 basses ago. :p Sometimes funny to see zombie threads and the gear people were playing but their style has changed several times since then. True that economic times aren't the best at the moment. :(

I currently have one in the TB classifieds but the reason is neither losing love for the brand nor hard times. My focus has been turning away from gigging and gear. I'm stripping my gear down to the bare minimum. Elricks still rock! There are no plans to sell my other Elrick...ever. :)

nalapit13: I would strongly recommend his pink ivory fingerboard on your fretless. I've owned several high-end fretless basses (MTD, F-Bass, Roscoe) and my Elrick with the pink ivory fingerboard is my all-time favorite. The Roscoe had a diamondwood fingerboard that I liked a lot also, but my Elrick is very organic sounding.

Pink ivory looks like the bomb, but there may be more to it than fretboard material. I suggest that it may have a lot to do with the way Rob builds his instruments. My fretless with an ebony board is very organic and woody sounding. This was true with the original nickel round DR strings that came with it...even more so with the Sadowsky flats it currently wears. IMHO. :)

P.S. For word definition purposes I consider 'organic' to imply more wood, less electronics to the overall sound of a bass. Again, IMHO.

specs i have so far. feel free to add any comments.

pink ivory fretboard unlined.
ash body no top
wenge neck
bolt on neck
aero p/j pickups. i absolutely love larry's aeros and i have a spare set of p/j's laying around.
bartolini preamp which in time i might swap out for another mike pope 4 band.

i was deciding on a fretboard and glenn from bassspecialties(who i will be ordering it from) said he talked to rob and he recommended black ebony, macassar ebony or pink ivory.

so any comments or concerns???

Sounds cool. I've had an Elrick fretless with a pink ivory board before- sonically it didn't seem much different from ebony. The stuff sure is pretty though. Do you still own your fretted one?
